Today in the use of technology there is a merger, the computer is a form of television, in the sense that you can '' view''; whatever. Podcasting via the computer is computer broadcasting, similarly webcasting is a combination of the two. The telephone can be used for both audi video conferences. In the Indira Gandhi National Open University where I work we have two way video as well as one way video and, two way audio facilities. By means of these we can interact with our students and colleagues in different parts of the country. We also have a tele convocation simultaneously in different parts of the country in over thirty locations.
All these compositely go to make up some of the best and effectual features of e learning. And to give the final thrust the computer and the internet can be used both synchronously and asynchronously to teach and learn. The web could be a digital repository to store and retrieve information, classroom lectures, printed material etc.Again the IGNOU'S recently launched eGyanKosh is one such example. Please log on to:www.eGyanKosh.ac.in It also provides for weblogging or web enabled discussions. Please try it and create your web page there.A web page is the writer's diary, a blog is the 'white board' where one can keep notes, jottings, and can do some serious writing.
This brings me to another point. Is not the web then an analogue for e learning? Learning does not only mean formal study. It is essentially experiential in intent. E Learning then can be aesthetics, literacy, learning through discussions- by aesthetics I mean creative writing or even painting and photography. Please visit the site concelebratory shoehorn review. You will find there the best mix and amalgam of poetry, painting and photography.
There really is no end to learning-and e learning!
