intelligence
Tuesday 25th, March 2008
What is intelligence?A three domain view of the world :1) Totally known2) Partially known3) Almost unknownTotally known ensures that we can use specific methods (algoritms) to solve problems in this domain.Almost unknown implies hardly anything can be done in this domainPartially known - this is the domain where algorithms or by-hearted methodsalone cannot work. A capacity to handle ambiguity, uncertainity, incompletenessis required. All these are characteristics of a domain that is new; that is stilunexplored. The ability to work in such a domain is what we call intelligence.Leading on Artificial Intelligence is the ability to use non-algorithmic means tohandle problems in this second domain.
