Beginers luck or simply a duck?
Influenced with blogs written by Directors, CEO's, MD's etc etc of big companies on Career related issues, I always wondered do they really care about our views(beginers/freshers) ? at all?

I don't doubt that they take a lot of care about employee's expectations so that they can create better working environments and to slow down attrition.. But thats not all...!

Everything from working environment to promotion comes after joining..But what about before joining? There are expectations before joining as well which is usually always ignored..
Expectations about work profile...expectations about areas of interests...While companies are making their pay slips heavier than ever before to lure good students from all B-Schools, they are ignoring completely few very important points.. Or I shall say students are loosing focus from these important aspects in sake of good money..I have seen thousand of finance students opting for marketing jobs, HR students opting for KPO based jobs and so on..
Yes, they can instantly justify it with the annual package amount on their offer letters but is it actually justified? or its just a compromise? Changing streams completely for the sake of money or, in worst cases, for jobs? Cant they wait for few more months to get a suitable job rather than choosing a wrong one...? Same applies in the IT, Engineering, and all other streams.

Its a tricky question... cos dropping job from campus placements can mean a lot of pain and struggle unless u have good sources. Current scenario in India indicates purely two ways for placements -

1) from campus placements if you are a fresher
2) job portals, advertisements, and consultants - if you have experience.

For all those who do not fit in any of these criteria, I am sorry for you. I am sorry for myself as well. Its not that I cant crack an interview but because I did my MSc in Innovation and Change Management. It was really easy to get jobs in UK coz of my academics and University's name. But I decided to not to work in UK and finding a job in India instead. And guess what? I didn't qualify for any of those two placement criterias!

What happened after that is a long story which hasn't finished yet but what all I want to say is - Changing streams completely for sake of money or job is what u call a beginers luck or simply a duck?

All HR people in this country need to move on from existing trends and start practicing new ideas which gives everyone equal opportunities. Like - open graduate opportunities rather than campus based recruitments only. It will be far more effective in terms of screening right candidates but only if HR people dare enough!

All above statements are not mean to say that what is happening currently is wrong, but if you compare attrition rate amongst youth in India with many other service oriented countries - you would know it all..............
