Recession as a ticket to super power status for india
Saturday 03rd, January 2009
I donot belong to the yester years when crisis always was keenly followed by panic!
The dollar dreams are no more dominant amongst the professionals now,who earlier drew handsome five figure salaries as MNC employees. With a reduced or scarce intake by the software giants, freshers are now searching means and ways to engage themselves for the next couple of years, after which, the market is expected to hit back or atleast open up.
Even after the traumatic spell of sixty years now, government is yet to recover from its socialism hang over.I dont deny socialism but we have the socialistic concepts only in those areas where we can expect votes!
Keeping apart the dark sides of our system, one must notice that unlike the western world, we have a huge public sector industries and investments. But unfortunately,we have never been able to do justice to these resources.Due to the various short comings,we have not been able to achieve even 40% efficiency till date.
There are projects which are lying stagnant. Not to forget the sectors where upgradation of technology is required. All these and more.........
The government,i feel, must realize the void that the recession has created.
The freshers who aspire multi national company placements are more or less skilled and professionally knowledged and often exibit global standards of caliber.
The vacant and dull public sector can catch rigour and pace if the best among the above catogeory professionals are hired.
I undestand the limitation of the government ;elections.
But here,I have a solution to offer. If the legal frame work permits, let the center make conditional or time bound or even assignment bound recruitments.
But the recruitments give meaningful results only when the appointments are based on the caliber of the professional.
This would engage them for an year or two and by then the cruder workforce would turn more skillful and experienced.
Previous experience in government firms will also add weight to their profiles to get much better placements.
We must realize that man power and human resources are the biggest assets of India's economy. The maximam utilization of these, alone can assure us progress.
