redBus: A Green Signal for your Bus Tickets

It is mobile buzz everywhere! Today there are lot of entrepreneurs, who are innovating in the mobile space with their new applications and technology. Here is a one cool startup, which I tracked in Bangalore. It is redbus. The name itself is interesting. Isn’t it?

Headquartered at Domlur, Bangalore, with its offices in Chennai, and Hyderabad redBus kicked off as an online bus ticket booking company. Now redbus is betting on the mobile space with the launch of its mobile application to enable customers to book bus tickets on the mobile phone. To enable this feature, redBus is using the ngpay technology. This addition makes redBus, to bring value proposition as one of the early stage bus tickets company to provide such a feature in the Indian market. As per the company spokesperson, they claim that transactions on ngpay adhere to the highest security levels and allay the fear of customers who hesitate to share their card details on the mobile.

Now customers who have GPRS enabled on their mobile phone can download the application that has various service providers like redBus, Makemytrip.com, IRCTC, Yatra.com, HDFC Bank, Fame cinemas and Air Deccan among others to avail this service.

But as you think about the company, one might feel what is so great about the company while other travel agency and KSRTC has already implemented successfully by establishing online booking centers in the city. On the contrary, one interesting point of this online booking it brings in all the available bus tickets irrespective of different bus services in one platform. Though the company is grumpy to interact with the media, is foraying into the market by many tie-ups with ezeego.com and ngpay. The move of redBus founders thought of the possibility of providing consumers the convenience of booking a bus ticket over the internet and mobile should be appreciated as it avoids the tensions of booking in advance or pleasing the brokers to get the tickets during the holiday season.
