Living for future
When i was talking to my friend in california he told me an interesting thing about his engineering classmate who is working with him now.His friend seems to be a topper in his class and he told my friend that he missed to enjoy his college days.

He was focussed more on his studies than hanging around with friends and enjoying that life. This makes me to introspect about my childhood, school and college days.

I still remember when i get into my Ist standard class after completing my LKG and UKG my miss (teacher) told us that you are no longer kids now and you have to focus more on studies than playing and figting.I dont understand much about what she was saying exactly. But i think that words (no longer kids) rooted into my mind.

Time has passed by and i was moved to 6th standard in one of the leading schools in my native place. In the first day of my class surprisingly my teacher told us the same word "You are kids only till 5th standard and you are grown up now. So you should leave all you mischievousness and focus on studies". I was literally confused and thought i should have been more playful earlier.

Believe me or not in each and every year i used to hear the same words (may be in a different way) till i complete my engineering. Interestingly i used to think about the same thing (i should have been joyful till last year) .Then i landed in a good job with handsome pay and now working in US.

When i turned back my life i used to think that i should have enjoyed more in my school, college than focussing more on studies and career. I wont say it is wrong to concentrate more on studies but it shouldnt be at the cost of our enjoyment at the various stages of our life.

Even though we are in good position and doing well now the joy that we missed in school, college days will never come back.

I think our indian mentality of insisting kids to lose their natural ability, innocence and forced to become book worms should be changed for the brighter future of our country.

What do you think?

Thanks

Kathir

great..superb blog..really i appreciate the way of ur thinking...u r absolutely right, if we missed these golden moments then they ll never came back again...till i remember my school days when my teachers told me u have to concentrate more on studies rather than divert ur mind here n there (in games n all)...but truely speaking, i enjoyed alot more in school days...

It's true, we seem to give up our little joys hoping for a better tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts, it's got me thinking. I recollect my first day in college when our professor asked us What's special about today? and everyone gave various not so interesting reasons. Finally the professor said Today is special because it was not there y'day and it will not be there tomorrow. that's why it's called the PRESENT. Hope we learn to cherish the presents.

I may be different here Kathiravan, i did enjoy a lot through my school, college and PG days. Maybe that's why I just remained an average in terms of academic marks but I can still enjoy now having got a decent job.

After Engineering, I landed in the Indian Army and thought I became a MAN now. But here the same story continues, only the wordings were different. During cadet days in Indian Military Academy, Dehradun “You bloody kids…” by our seniors and then during Second Lieutenants and Lieutenants days in the regiments we were called “Youngsters..” and even some times “Babies..” or even “The present days Kids don’t know any thing.....”.
Lets go back to school again..
