After launching the Beat petrol, Chevrolet will now launch the Beat diesel for the Indian market. The diesel variant is expected to launch by early 2011. The Beat should be powered by a 1.0-litre or a 1.2-litre diesel engine.

After a long wait, Audi will soon next the next-generation A6 into India. The new Audi A6 will be shorter and have a lower roofline that the outgoing model. The new-generation will have a longer wheelbase by 69mm and 80kg lighter than its predecessor.

Skoda plans to get their super performer the Laura RS (known as the Octavia RS in international markets). The Laura RS has a 2.0TSI engine which produces a whooping power of 200bhp and was seen in India at the performance show November 2009 in Mumbai and even at the Auto Expo'10 in New Delhi.

Renault has moved out of the Logan pact with Mahindra and the company has now officially announced that they will bring two of their cars to the Indian Market. One among the SUVs would be the Renault Duster. The Dacia Duster so to say is a funky looking SUV and one of the cheapest in the world.

GM India is ready to make public the electric version of its entry level small car, the Chevrolet Spark.

The Spark will feature two electric versions, one with a conventional lead acid battery and another with more expensive lithium ion batteries.

The Fiat Bravo is Fiat's new small family car that was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007. The car was designed by the Fiat style centre and Austrian automotive company Magna Steyr was involved in engineering most of the car’s body and fittings.

Maruti Suzuki isn’t just getting the new generation Swift, but it will also launch the sedan version of the Swift in the latter half of this year. The engines on the DZire will remain the same – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS.

Renault and Nissan share the same plant in Chennai to manufacture their cars for the Indian car market. The two automakers have a global joint-venture to share their technology as well. Renault now plans to launch a new small car, which will be based on the Micra platform.
