As an Instrument maintenance incharge we were usually discussing various technical as well administrative problems involving colleagues. One day I suddenly raised a question to my Manager during a day end discussion continuing upto 7:00PM, "we are not able to understand how the time of an individual is economically spent? let us start sort of logs daily and record what our employee do throughout the day". The Manager was quick to respond, how do we record the discussion we have with you so long often, what value addition we log for this; and he was right we spend good amount in these discussion eating away good amount of time of our own people. The Manager was not the Excellent rated one, but usually very good, who speaks less. This was a nice lesson for me.
