Corporate E-Mail Etiquettes
Wednesday 02nd, July 2008
A career in Information technology depends on one key component - Information. What this means is that anything that goes out of an individual's mind, can be treated as important information if it is made public for a good number of audience - esp. in the professional arena.

I have used the word 'mind' because today thoughts are the key triggers to generating information and they originate from the mind.

Thoughts are like raw shapeless stones, refined by the chisel of knowledge into some meaningful shapes and sizes to build blocks of information which can be used to construct bigger structures of knowledge and eventually build and grow economies.

This may seem to be a very big introduction to a simple topic of discussion - Corporate-email.

I am being specific about the category of email here because most of these might not apply if people do not use the web/free email service for business/formal communication purposes.

Yes, but this email is the tool that can make or break sensitive corporate images today. I have been through stupid but very sensitive mistakes just because people have taken the email system for granted AND they have not considered the serious repurcussions of abuse of this powerful tool for information 'communication'.

An email communication is as good as 2 people talking to each other. And with reduced instances of physical, face-to-face communication, people, esp. the youngsters have begun to really lose touch with what used to be called the protocols and etiquettes of communication, conversation and discussions. Hence a refresher of sorts is needed for most of the IT industry work-force in specific and email users in general.

The corporate-email system is to be used very carefully so that the right thoughts get shared as information in the professional world.

Here are thus some tips - generic and specific as the case may be for all of the upcoming IT sector rookies who might probably think email is a cool tool to be in touch with everyone, so can be used as recklessly as driving and drinking :-)

The tips follow.
