Do we care about being Indian?
Hi ,

I was busy programming on Friday afternoon when my colleges came and told me about the serial blast in Bangalore. I didn't care much initially because i knew my family members were at home and nothing would have happened to them. It took some time for me to realise that my friends or someone whom i might have know might be injured or killed. I got scared now. Luckily it was low intensity bomb and not many people were injured. I spent rest of the day watching knews with anxiety. Next day it was business as usual.

When i hear people have become resilent? i keep questioning my self 1)Do we really care about other indians 2) Have we become so selfish that we dont spend a minute of silence for those who lost their lives?3)Are we just foccused on acheiveing our own personal goals that we dont care about what happens to people around us?

We know how good our politicains are? They need a time and place to put blame on others . If an American is killed, they kill several other people and then invite the enemies for talks or negotiations. In India when so many people are killed by militants we go to Pakistan and have discussion knowing that it wouldnt do any thing much to the situation. Have we become soft on National Interest? We hear in news that bomb explods every now and then. We are hooked to tv sets on that day, next day we forget what happened and carry on with our life. This is the reason why even government doesnt care about people dying. The government swings into action when the Parliment is attacked. Is it because PM or High Governmnet Officalls are their in Parliment? Is normal Indian life no value for government? If the government takes actions its just for few days and then relax waiting for another bomb to explode so that they caan wake up.

Next question comes to mind is what a normal citizen can do for the nation?I believe each one of us should take responsibilty like when ur travelling in public transport, befor u sit down, have a glance of surrondings to see if any bags are left out. This even applies when we are in crownded places. We need to be on guard. I know if we get scared it will be moral victory for militants. We shouldnt even let militants pass off easily every time they inflict wounds on every Indian. I cant blame the government for everything thats happening, but firm measures need to be taken in national security, leaving the politics behind.

Some of the measures government should take is
1)Advertisment about to look around for untouched bags
2)People like 'Amitabh,Sachin and Sharukh' who have large fans following should make an appeal to people to be alert and let the police know of any suspicious people or things
3)Surely there are few policemen than actually required. So there needs to be increase in policemen
4)A Federal Agency which has full authority like FBI,KGB which doesnt get involved in politics and is dedicated for stopping terrorists .We dont want them to be like CBI,RAW,IB which have become in efficent and we find that holes being created very often
5)Human Intelligence and Techinicall stuffs need to be improved

I being Indian feel very bad that i havent done much either. Its time for each one of us that we do what all we can to bring change in India .

I guess we are all wasting time here simply reading the news and blaming the politicians and IB..lets just question ourselves... what have we done after all these? Do we really care for people who are affected by those blasts. And its very true that the political system needs to be changed in INDIA..But seriously How many of Us think that a Youngster (Be it a techcie or doctor or for that matter any youngster) can come and survive in this political system which is corrupted from head to Toe...I dont mean that we cannot bring change, I meant to say that as an Individual we cannot change the System but as a TEAM We can Wipe out these Useless so called senior politicians and look forward for a Brighter INDIA without Corruption and Terrorists....

In general the common man's capabilities are limited. Famous personalities (John F. Kennedy, Prof. APJ Abdul Kalam, may be others too) have appealed that citizens should ask themselves what they can do for their country. But when the Indian Parliamentarians concocted a bill against the rule to publicise their assets, educational qualifications and criminal antecedents if any, and SUBMITTED A SECOND TIME to the then Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam, he had to sign it as per the rules. This is just to point out that even the FIRST CITIZEN OF INDIA was powerless in that situation, because of a SYSTEMIC PROBLEM OF INDIAN DEMOCRACY. Similarly, there are many things that need to change in India. But common people, politicians, the intelligentsia etc all seem to be indifferent.

Today for about 95% of the problems in the world there are many solutions available. But the solutions may not be readily there where the problems are; THEREFORE THE SOLUTIONS MUST BE SEARCHED, FOUND AND CAREFULLY APPLIED. These require A DETERMINED LEADERSHIP, EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATION AND SOCIAL DISCIPLINE (pre-requisite for development of any country as per Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, founder and 1st PM of Singapore, who is now Mentor Minister there 49 years after he became PM). But we don't have these, and the politicians will not allow social discipline, to serve their selfish interests. Only the intelligentsia and the civil society together can enlighten the common man for determined and prolonged campaigns to persuade the politicians to BRING ABOUT THE ESSENTIAL CHANGES BADLY NEEDED IN INDIA'S SOLIO-ECONO-POLITICAL SYSTEM. India is the most complex county of the world; therefore not only it is not easy, it is also very difficult to change anything. But, there are no QUICK-FIXES! Infrastructure development alone can bring about a FAST development, then there is chance for social discipline, other things can follow.

why should we always think that the terrorists come only from abroad ? Of course our neighbours are "breeding grounds" of terrorism (Pakistan, Afganistan)but do we want to close our eyes to the local terrorism ? I still remember a song of Mahendra kapoor "sambhal ké rahna apné ghar ké cheepé hué gaddaron sé". Governments can be vigilant, but can they really stop terrorism ? This poisonous phenomenon is hitting all over(as i write these words from Isparta, Turkey I have heard that yesterday a bomb blasted in Istanbul !) and it is the duty of each and every individual to be alert. No police in the world can search each and every house. Vigilance should come from each one of us.

Kruti,

You cannot compare the US intelligence with the IB of india. I accept that 9/11 happened but US very well knew in advance that 9/11 is going to happen. The FBI and CIA had knowledge of the most of the terrorists before the incident. But they were brewing with over confidence that nobody can do anything to a super power like Americe which the terrorists did prove wrong. At least after the incident they worked their hearts out and with deddication to crack down on terrorist. But just check out the indian intelligence. Not a single serial blast case has been cracked in the past 2 years which is a shame.

Our problem is that we wait for some one to come & induce patriotism & in my opinion it should come within. Nowadays TV & Radio are the strong media to reach people. Make use of these medias & educate people, on how defence people are alert & if somethings happens how they combat the same, make it more attractive so that people watch them, & show every now & then so that people know how to tackle these kind of calamities. But all the TV Channels show either vulgar movies or songs 24 hrs & there is no restriction on the same.

Hi It is a clear cut from Pakistan. First they just wanted to make us feel insecure and divert our attension. Then later they can intrude POK. This is what happened yesterday afternoon. One of our soldier sacrificed his life to the motherland. Our bloddy politicians do not have guts to say anything about it.

But as I techie what we can do? How and what we can contribute to our motherland?

In our country nobody takes initiative to check the people who come into the country finish their destructive work and go back and play safe. Our country's system is hopeless and getting more hopeless day by day.It everybody's responsibility to investigate anything doubtful around them. The concerned officials shld check people who migrate to our country. This is what i feel abt this problem.

Yes, the serial blasts in B'lore and A'bad are really sameful incident. But have a look at Surat. Surat police has been cracked out the blasts supposed to been in surat, And surat ppl supported them a lot.

But this doesn't mean that ppl always have to check for any untouched bags or take care abt any suspicious human/thing. This will be the failour of our nation only.

Though, not only Indian intelligency, but US intelligency has also the same problem. Otherwise, WTC incident never happend. So, I think it is meaningless to blame only Indians.

Yes, the goverment is very much corrupted. They will think of their comfort first, in either case. But now this is the time to stop blaming it and do action, if we really wants to change it or want any improvement in our nation. Since the day, we many a times read/heard about corrupt govt or politicians. But why they are still there, coz the people, who think they are wrong, are not there, but are among us. We, till the day, only discuss about the PROBLEM, now it's time to think and act on the SOLUTION.

If terrorist can watch any movie and plan for serial blast then why we can not inspire from movie 'Yuva' and go ahead towards solution. Why we only wants to Doctor, Engineer, Actor, Cricketor, IT guy!!!!? Why dont we be A leader, A policeman, A militaryman!!? Cant we a part of FBI, CIA, SS or any other such?

So, this is the first step, think what you want to be for you and for your next generation.

Govt. of India always threats to take action.
Also fears to take action as indirectly impacts might be from Gulf countries, America, etc.
Hindus are not united & they can't be also, Parties always keeps view on Muslim voters.
Every Indian is feared with currupt systym in Govt. offices & protecting dept.
No body wants to involve in such type of Zamela's
Govt. has to take action to involve commom people with confidance to get nationlazise results.

These terror act in the past few days have shown that the inteliigence agencies have completely failed. 28 blasts in a span of 3 days should remind the intelligence agencies that how incapable and inefficient they are. Also its very annoying, pathetic and sad that not even a single serial blast was cracked in the past 2 years. This is not acceptable. The serial blasts have become a daily routine now. Neither the goverment cares nor the intelligence agencies.

India is supposed to be the second fastest growing economy but the law enforcement agencies seems to go backwards.Just imagine if the same incident had happened in UK or US or even China. They would acted so swiftly and ensured that the pobabilty of such incident happening would have been slim. But not in India. Every time the terrorists come out with more force and damage. This is a shame.

I think its time the government and agencies act swiftly and if these blasts too go down the history books then there is no point in paying tax to a governemnt and agencies who cannot protect a common man.

Also the government should take acts like POTA and the requirement of a federal agency like FBI,CIA,SS or Mozad. And if politicians are opposing it then they have something to hide.

If this continues then its not long when the world will label india as a country which breeds terrorits.

Our problem is that we dont have guts. Guts to get up and say to Pakis(a)tan that if they want talks or trade, they should handover these terrorists to us. I think the problem is there are so many of us, more than a Bilion, so our lives are not worth fighting for anymore. Once a lot of us are dead, then we as a nation, will sit and actually do something about this situation. Till then secularists, NGOs, Human rights activists, will rule...
