HEIGHT OF INTOLERANCE

Well every one need to support movements against corruption which has engulfed our society for a long time now. These movements should be directed against the system and not target individuals and parties to serve self interests. That is what the so called Anna Andolan has been doing for some time now. Needless to say, it has lost all the steam and now for a change, Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia began fasting. The response was poor and then suddenly Ramdev got to the stage hugging the satyagrahis, the crowd swelled for a while. then they thought without Anna Hazare, the fast will be ignored by the people. Already the leaders in the movement have called the media traitors for having let them down this time around. Every word of these people smacks of arrogance and contempt for all accepted forms of democractic conventions. Kiran Bedi calls for all Delhites to come to the streets to teach the political class a lesson. She thought she could do a Lok Nayak who called for Sampoorna Kranti.  the media persons were attacked and the leader Anna had to apologise castigating his team members for going overboard. In a TV Show, actor Anupam Kher called this a feeling of let down exhibited by the organisers for the Press has now come to face the reality.

In the same show, Justice Katju castigated the media for having fallen a prey to this organisers little realising that the Jan Lokpal will increase corruption rather than eliminating it because it seeks to create a parallel bureaucracy of lakhs of Lokpals to oversee crores of Government servants. Corporate corruption is out of bounds for the proposed Janlokpal whereas it is these corporates who influence decision making through corrupt practices. Barqua Dutt said that truth manifests itself not in black white but in shades of grey which was repudiated by Sekar Gupta who said truth always manifests itself in black and white while the intrepretations, the stories woven by media which come in shades of grey. Sekar argued that the media got in to the trap by overplaying the importance, calling it Doosra Ladai for Kranti, calling Anna the living Mahatma or an Apostle who will lead us to light. The role of the press should be limited to reporting factual events. But it fails comprehension as to how Sekar allowed to publish a non existent coup when a company of armed forces went astray for a while on their trip to the capital to participate in Republic day parade?

Was it not sensationalism?

This movement of India against corruption wants to corner all powers from the political class to themselves and rule by proxy. they should if they feel the whole of the system is rotten get in to serious politics, contest elections and cleanse the system once and for all

they fear doing it.
