I straightjacket them on my own whim into 3 categories:
- wide eyed visitors like myself completely enamored by the order (in the disorder of city life) the elaborate continuity of the past into the present - through careful preservation of the architecture and general look and feel of the city (surprisingly london looks very distinctly "old" in a very pleasant way).
- the lot who had recently settled in there. This is an interesting bunch. They dont know whether to be happy or sad, There is a general euphoria of having "arrived" and earning in pounds and euros and all things "phoren" just an arms distance away. Sad for having left the comfort zone of the past life behind and opting for an alien world. Mood swings , uncertain glances to left and right and its a dead give away!!
- The settlers who have been there forever. India as a concept has been sold to them as a concept when they were children from forefathers but they have the western sense of confidence and "fitting in" as they speak and behave like any britisher. India in the past was cultural heritage and today its economic opportunity.
I wonder if Bollywood and Cricket enamors Brit Indians as much as it enamors me?Log on more details visit::www.mocazoasia.com
