How to Make Your Own Wall Stickers

While wall stickers can create an attractive accent for any room, they are particularly appropriate for rental apartments, children's rooms, or any place that you would like a personal touch without committing to a permanent alteration. You can make salable wall stickers according to any type of personal aesthetic, then easily remove them when you're ready for a change.

1 Purchase contact paper that is the color you want for your wall stickers. If you want to make complex stickers that contain more than one color, purchase several smaller rolls in different colors, or a package that contains a variety of colors in small bundles, depending on what is available at wall stickers and furniture store.

2 Unroll the contact paper and cut a piece that is the length you want for your decal. For example, if you want to create a wall decal that is 12 inches long, measure a section of contact paper that is 12 inches long, then cut that section off the roll using a pair of sharp scissors.

3 Draw the design you want for the wall decal onto the contact paper using a washable marker. For example, if you want a flower decal, draw the shape of the flower onto the decal paper.

4 Cut the contact paper into the shape you want using the stencil you drew on it in step 3. Discard the excess material unless it is large enough to be turned into smaller stickers.

5 Peel the paper backing off the contact paper, then press the decal onto the wall. Rub it smooth to remove an air bubbles that have formed. Once it is fixed in place, wash it gently with a damp cloth to remove the marker lines that you drew in step 3.
