As Posted Today in a Muslim internet site: News on the Australian Government's "intervention" (read invasion) into remote Indige

As-Salamu Alaykum wa Ramathullahi wa Rabarakathuhu everyone

(the words here in brackets I have added a few days after posting the original elsewhere)

It is almost one year now since the Australian Federal Parliament made legislation for an “INTERVENTION” into the remote indigenous communities of Australia’s Northern Territory. They had to revoke a portion of the Racial Discrimination Act in order to effect their law, and therefore Australia is now nationally well outside of the Geneva convention and United Nations agreements.

Only a few months after the legislation was brought in, an election happened, and the Australian Labor Party won in a history making event. Yet even the Labor party has not been able to let go of wanting to enable other nations to victimise the indigenous population, blaming us Aborigines for much of the child abuse happening in many other places.

Recently I happened to be in the Northern Territory for a few weeks.

I have also been listening to a public lecture given by an Aboriginal Elder, and healer, who grew up within the Ummah of Islam, (as a recognised Mumin, but in the circumstance where Muslims were not resourced and safe in providing Muslim education even for all their family), through intermarriage with the camel traders from the part of the world in northern Persia, who descendants still today have a Mosque in the Australian desert. He is also a person who carries significant Aboriginal cultural knowledge, and is skilled at transmitting his knowledge. He spoke at the Trades and Labor Council building, and this afternoon, to students at Griffith university, both here in Brisbane, QLD.

He prefaced everything he had to say, with part of the Dreamtime mythology, in which he himself has ownership, and within which I am also allowed to impart knowledge. It is the story of the Seven Sisters, associated with the constellation Pellaidies, and is recognised in every part of Australia, as the story by which Sovereignty is acknowledged. He told a portion of the story, connected with the geography of his grandparents birth places. His grandparents were children when white men first arrived to their land. In his story, there is also the connection to the Morning Star, who is a man chasing the seven sisters because he wants to marry at least one of her. This is how I know the story also, but I first learned it by reading about it beginning at a place in Western Australia.

Then, after setting the scene, in establishing his sovereign right to portray his own interpretation of the facts, he begins to tell the story of how the “intervention” is effecting his own community. An intervention which his family are experiencing as the re-invasion of their land. The Northern Territory has an Aboriginal population of approximately 30% owning about 51% of the land mass. That ownership is partly through land having been granted through the Northern Territory Land Rights Act, or granted through the Native Title Legislation which supersedes the preferable Northern Territory Land Rights Act, or land is owned because it has been bought with money. The sovereignty of the stories marking traditional ownership will never be superseded no matter what sort of lies are legislated, such is the nature of Allah’s real governance in these matters.

The intervention legislation was brought into effect because of many allegations of sever incidence of child abuse. A few actual child rapists were found, and locked into prisons, where they will be conditioned into expecting to be able to get away with what they have done, by being more brutally raped by other prison inmates. Yet even with the Army and extra police investigating the life style of every family, fewer child rapists have been found than are statistically known to exist in almost every modern industrialised economic community.

Money from government paid benefits, is being quarantined, and families receive only a tiny portion of their income. That is applying to the Army Veterans pension also. From incomes of approximately $500 per fortnight, on a pension, as much as $250 is being removed directly for rent, even when there are no houses to live in. People are being charged that amount for only having access to a tap and a place to erect a corrugated iron lean to. Additionally as much as another $200 is being made payable only through a shop card, to shop with at one of the major supermarket chains, which have no outlets in the communities which the intervention is taking place in.

The speaker I have been listening to, who is doing a national tour, tells that it is a five hour drive from his own home, to the nearest supermarket where the shop cards that have been issued can be used. That is five hours worth of petrol consumption, thus at a cost of more money than the shop cards have credited.

The nearest supermarkets, for using the cards, for many of the desert people, are in Alice Springs. The population of Alice is usually around 27 000, but at present over 35 000, while small settlements, which normally have a population of around 500, have been dwindled to around 100. Therefore the housing crisis is extreme in Alice Springs, with as many as fifty people in a small three bedroom house. Whereas before, it may have been around 20 using one house.

This dislocation of people from land, is being experienced as equitably fear inducing as the original invasion.
There are electorates, in which the Aboriginal vote has been reduced also, and concerns about the effect it could have to amass Aboriginal voters into only a few locations.

Alice Springs has 17 town camps, which are like villages of humpies with barely any amenities, or houses, and at each of those town camps, a sign has been erected, at a cost of $40 000 per sign, saying No alcohol and No pornography, otherwise there will be a further income reduction put in place. Many of the persons effected did not know what pornography was, and have now learned of it for the first time.

If a mother on a government pension as a single parent, so much as lets her children miss out on only two days of school, in these living conditions, she is liable to have her entire income removed from her for a period of twelve weeks. The same sanction applies to alcohol and pornography, yet those effected persons who want to get drunk, have already discovered that there are taxi drivers who will take the shop cards, to use as payment to drive to the bottle-shop (an off-licence:- yet alcohol is actually sold in the supermarkets also), purchase alcohol, from amenable shop keepers, and bring the alcohol back to the owner of the shop card. It is like dialling a pizza, but dial-a-grog-shop, and pay with the money in shop cards which the government has quarantined for supermarkets. Meanwhile the employed managers, and financial administrators, of the intervention, are being paid salaries of $160 000 per annum, with two weeks holiday out of every eight, because the Federal Government is not anticipating being able to find employees with financial expertise willing to live in any Aboriginal community. Yet I myself have been prevented, by undercover police operative surveillance, from moving into those exact same locations, with the specific skills I own, my generally high level of tolerance for poor living conditions, and good ability in inter-cultural communication.

The fact that the whole situation is an appalling human rights violation, is being totally ignored by the Australian media, despite the new Labor government having said Sorry, in a legislated statement, about past government policies of intervention in child protection. We are waiting for our new Labor government to repeal the intervention legislation. Along with carrying out their promises of improving the Native Title legislation, and having a national referendum to remove the “Terra Nullius” statement from Australia’s National Constitution, in which the basic humanity of Aborigines is legislatively denied. We exist as human beings only within our own Sovereignty.

Terra Nullius is what the British had named Australia when they began their occupation in 1788, and it means a land unpopulated by human beings. Yet the federal government has subsequently recognised Aborigines as citizens, and as having had prior ownership, so if we were not human then what were we? It is fortunate for all of us indeed that our culture is able to cope with being branded as less than our real way of belief and behaviour.

These are the facts of the matter, and although the shock of the intervention as invasion, is horrendous, it is only in that same trajectory in which the Australian Nation State has always accommodated any matter about Indigenous persons.

For example, even though the ATSIC (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission), and the Native Title legislation were debated over a longer time frame than any other legislation made by the Federal Parliament, removing all laws enabling ATSIC, and making the intervention legislation, were the fastest, and least debated pieces of legislation ever made in the Australian Federal Parliament.

The speaker I have been listening to told of how his own community have saved up their own funding, built a building and employed teachers in their own school, but that it was closed down by the government. His own community have saved up for sewerage ponds in their township, which has its effluent managed by septic tanks, but have been told that there is not enough water. Yet nearby, there is another township built for the hotels for tourists visiting Uluru, where there are swimming pools full of water. And in Alice, renting a tap, is costing half the income of many persons. Yet if these same communities had not shown the invaders where the water is in the first place, no non-Aboriginal persons would ever have survived travelling because of how hostile the environment is.

There is even an example of land which was privately purchased by an Aboriginal community, but has been confiscated for the purpose of building a radio-active waste dump. Apparently in other nations, they imagine that since the uranium is under our ground, because they are extracting electricity from the uranium, we ought to suffer their consequences. They will be proven wrong. The area where they plan to build a radio-active waste dump, is the area of the most seismic activity in that region.

Meanwhile, Alice Springs at night, is full and brimming with rumours about how the police and military presence, and the American base at Pine Gap, are proving their infatuation with wanting to escape responsibility for Earth, by spending all their time worrying about outer space, were intervening in the lives of Martians, with their $438 million dollar probe. The lessons of these facts will be learned, and if not immediately, then we will need to teach the hard way, such as has often been the means of our culture, whenever belief in our humanity is being undermined.

Pine Gap is located at a significant sacred site and traditional meeting place, where a few of the more important of Aboriginal song lines (ley lines in the Earth’s crust along which the dreams of the story of being received in Jannah are transmitted), converge, and many traditional Aborigines sustain a high level of concern, and fear, surrounding the circumstance of having been prevented from Spiritual work at that site, to maintain the Dreamtime mythology within accurate belief, and real recognised Spiritual worth in the Abrahamic traditions also. Most of the believers are focussing very astutely through the Old Testament, to ratify our own ancient traditional stories, and most are not likely to acknowledge any correspondence with Islam because of the possibility of police discrimination against us if we are known to be able to. These are the stories of that sort which I normally do not tell in internet contexts, as I will not speak the words of without face to face interaction. However, the situation with the United States Military Base at Pine Gap, needs to be told.

The U.S. military confesses to using Honeysuckle Creek (near Canberra), and the receiving dish at Parkes, for various stated purposes, (in which there is variation in reports of what use is being made of what facility), the purpose of the military in using the Pine Gap base, is not ever intentionally disclosed. I would not be surprised to find myself, that the site’s present use, is causing an increase of the need for traditional stories of echidna dreaming, (or hedgehogs and anteaters, often being the totem in other indigenous cultures for the trickster to meet resolution with, and for others to enable exorcisms of the trickster dreams), and within Aboriginal Australian culture, thereby proving, because of the good food supply which echidna’s are, that when they (the tricksters) say that it is already too late for certain action to be effective, that they more likely are referring to knowledge that an occurrence has happened before they became prepared to prevent of.

However, I do not anticipate that everybody will be able to comprehend and understand the perspective in which such things are believed in, as the a part of the work in which we ask that our prayers will be answered.

The important point is that we cannot afford to mistake how the government's intervention is being experienced by Aborigines. The Army has entered small remote communities, in which original sightings of the British invasion of Australia are still within living memory, and has actively imposed conditions in which the majority of many populations is being forced to move into larger towns.

There is a book about a couple of Aboriginal people who walked out of the desert in the 1970's, and had had no previous contact with the invaders. That is, they avoided contact until after already able to be accepted as citizens, by the referendum in 1967. There is no reason to expect that they were the last people to be avoiding contact with the industrialised world. The is every reason to believe that there are still babies being born and raised outside of the system of the legislation which is attempting to impose upon Aborigines the conditions of voting for our own oppression and loss of sovereignty. Inshallah, children being raised outside of the imposition of being branded as less than human, will one day prove Islam's real cause is the same reason their parents do not orient their minds into the invaders world. (the day after I first posted this, but in a different thread of these forums, the news showed pictures of the remote Amazon tribe photographed from the air, and told of commitments by even the anthropological community, not to bother interfering in the lives of indigenous South Americans – our own Australian Native Kinship organisations, and how we sustain our own indigenous Ummah, are certainly not so lucky as those South Americans, in the way the world regards us, since we are rather all being accused of culturally condoning child rape, even when we are now Christians as well as sustaining our own traditions, and have been persecuted to prevent us being identifiable among Muslims, - indeed, if the people who were photographed, have actually been so lucky as to have never needed sustain contact with the world of the capitalist mode of production, Mashallah that outcome.)

Thankyou for reading this.

There will be a national day of action to safeguard the future of indigenous children and the true cultural tradition, at June 21st 2008. The traditional owners of Uluru, have begun to notify everybody, that if the Australian Labor Party, has not begun to repeal the "intervention" legislation, within a few weeks of that date, there will be no further possiblity of any tourists climbing Uluru. The site is sacred, and even the Tibeteans have recognised that if it was in Tibet it would have a wall around it to prevent anybody even being able to see it, yet those same Tibetean Buddhists are some of the more frequent tourists to the site. The rock has a significant story and powerful impact upon the mental comprehension of time, only from one touch. It is recognised as requiring defending so as to defend the sanity of humanity, for even to touch it imposes the comprehension of Jehannam, unless the person has never had any contact with any non-believer. Please support these actions for the reason of protecting the human mind of our children.

I am a share holder in a Shari’ah compliant propriety company, just started, who are obligated towards enabling good English (English words are the only ones used by the Australian State) language literacy, and other Muslim oriented educational standards, among indigenous believers. We can accept Zakat, and are contactable through PO Box 6113, Fairfield, QLD 4103. The immediate situation is of a shortage of teachers who are comprehensive with Aboriginal traditional culture, and real deficit in provision of academic standard English language teaching. The situation is so extreme that many Aboriginal persons cannot acknowledge English as being a tool for effective communication, or even a real language, which by Aboriginal standards, it in fact, is not. However, most of those Aboriginal persons, have not even any lessons in use of the English dictionary.

I experience my own world, as one in which police and government assume that I have a retarded intellect, only because I refuse to blame traditionally oriented people for the conditions which their lives are being lived in. The real story is a story of immense dignity and nobility being sustained under the most adverse conditions imaginable. Indigenous Australians will not fail to prove our own stories, and since we first began to learn from Muslims, Jews and Christians, we have been making the Abrahamic traditions our own also, in recognition that it is the tradition worth our patience.

Near Alice Springs, are site in which the rocks have a foot prints in them, and it is widely believed, by traditionally oriented Aborigines, that at least one such foot print is the footprint of Isa. Mashallah our belief will prove the longevity of the way of cultural upkeep of land which will enable the Kingdom of God here at Earth.

Alaykumu’as-Salamu wa Ramathullahi wa Rabarakathuhu Becky Copas nungarrayi (the name used in Warlbiri language for all females whose story is the same as Rebecca in the Old Testament)
