What Is Really Behind This Global Crisis ?
Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic 'Autobiography of a Yogi', prophesied about 7 decades ago that such a crisis would visit the US and engulf the world.
Reckless consumerism (plastic money etc.) and fiscal shortsightedness are amongst the obvious reasons, but what is really the message and are we going to come out of it ?
The wise don't take events seriously, they take the lessons and move on. Yes, we shall all come out of it - wiser and stronger. When ? Depends on how soon we learn our lessons but can be expected in the latter part of 2009.
Behind every process, there are definite laws. There are precise laws governing this universe as a whole. We can broadly call it the Law of Karma. What is happening is 'mass karma', so the whole world is affected but depending on individual karma, one will be more or less affected. Some will even gain from this, even with a genuine concern for others, and that is individual karma again. There are no accidents, no arbitrary happenings - just working of precise laws in all spheres of life.
We were made strong enough to stand, as Rilke put it, but free to fall. In some areas of collective living, we have chosen to fall. We have put matter over mind, money over morals, and cart before the horse. A benign Cosmic Order is therefore disciplining us.
But these trials - countless people losing jobs globally, the recession, the credit crunch etc. - aren't there to destroy us. We shall come out stronger and wiser. So let us learn the lessons, rejoice and move on ! Every pain has a hidden gift. Yes, indeed.
