Sons of the Soil with regards to employment

Sons of the Soil is the concept of clinching people to a particular area/place/location and conferring upon them certain rights and privileges that may not apply to others. The question of preference to sons of the soil in the matter of employment has of late assumed a complex character. The solution has to be sought in terms of common citizenship, geographical mobility and economic feasibility of locating industrial units, on the one hand, and local aspiration on the other.

It has been found that people migrate from villages to cities looking for opportunities to prosper as they dare to dream. But this issue becomes a matter of discussion when it hinders someone else’s progress. It is said that ‘when the sun rises, it rises for everyone’ thus every individual has the right to equality but it is also said that ‘fairness is what justice is’ which epitomizes that the one who is deserving and is in need of, should get the liberty. To be fair towards the destitute, reservations are made which comes in conflict with equality. So which theory should one encourage?

Equality falls on the heavier side since we have been taught from aeon that one should be given his/her due irrespective of his caste, creed or area of residence. So if you are the deserving candidate, you will get it and if someone else is as good as you even he shall get it. And since the government wanted to be fair to the local public it emphasized on reservations. Everything seems sorted out, still the debate persists.
