Persistent Leadership (behind the scenes)
Sunday 23rd, November 2008

As I have stated earlier in my posts, watching leaders in action is a great way to learn and become one. Before I started using Silicon India as a forum to share my ideas, I had an opportunity to meet Gunjan in person. In the brief period I talked to him, he shared vision for Silicon India forum.

Make SiliconIndia 'the forum' for technical professionals in India to network and share ideas. He talked about expanding the forum to realize its potential by enabling video sharing, better networking etc. I have been tracking Gunjan's articles on the forum as well as see the vision set forth take shape. SiliconIndia.com has been improved regularly over last 2 years.

I have seen new features developed and deployed regularly

    • Options to share videos
    • Q & A
    • Communities
    • Quite a few look and feel Changes
    • many more.. I may not have noticed.

I would definitely say there is leadership behind the scenes that is helping the forum take shape. There are lot of people spending effort and persisting to make it happen.

I am sure this forum is having a positive impact on professionals in many ways.

    Putting into practice:

To train yourself to succeed as a leader, define a transformational vision (big or small). It can be for yourself or for your team or your department. Set your mind to it. Make things happen towards this vision. Persist, despite getting distracted. Reflect on struggles you face. Start small and once you have understood the process, you can aim higher. Building such a vision will take years. Have patience.
