Is AI in vogue now?Or where is the research heading. There were several paradigms when I last gave up following them some ten years back.

2:Dear Mr. Mahadeva,

Thanks for
still showing interest in present day AI
after loosing track of the field long time
back. As you know, AI is a very vast field
comprising of many sub-fields and
sub-sub-fields. If we think that a robot will
serve our house-hold or routine activities in
near future, that is still a distant dream.
However, AI has progressed a lot in recent
years. Today there are many areas where AI
based paradigms and concepts are employed
extensively and applications based on these
are being used in our daily life. These areas
include speech and gesture based input/output
mechanisms, language translations and
transliteration, predictive writing,
automated vision, financial analysis and many
