POSITION SUMMARY

Smilemd.com is looking for an all around rock-star Senior Application Engineer to help us build a new web initiative within the SmileMD family of sites. This is a hands-on role focusing on both front-end and back-end development. This high-visibility role will have the opportunity to create critical infrastructure for our international expansion efforts. In addition to extensive development experience (minimum 4 years), this position also requires that the candidate must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the engineering team to design, develop, test, and deploy new features for the Smilemd family of sites.
• Participate in requirements gathering sessions, design reviews, and code reviews
• Communicate status to project stakeholders
• Ensure project timelines are met with high quality deliverables
• Leverage Java, J2EE, Tomcat, etc., to build and maintain highly scalable, highly available, modular code
• Fully document your code

QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidate must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English, MCA/BA, preferably in Computer Science, with software engineering experience
• Solid J2EE/server-side java experience
• Strong knowledge of design patterns and software engineering best practices
• Strong knowledge of SQL and MySQL Databases
• Experience with Struts, Struts 2 and/or WebWorks a plus
• Experience with JSPs (experience with JSTL and Tiles is a plus)
• Experience with CSS, HTML, JavaScript and Ajax.
• Some experience with Photoshop
• Experience with JQuery a plus
• Knowledge of Wordpress templates is a plus.
• Experience with a high traffic web site and the challenges of scale
• Experience with Java Internationalization
• Demonstrated experience delivering robust, scalable, multi-lingual production code handling double-byte languages including Japanese
• Demonstrated ability to work with business owners and product manager to localize and implement translations of content and UI text
• Self motivated, team player with excellent communication skills
• Well rounded problem solving skills
