Kfc And The Destruction Of Indonesian Rainforests

Print Email
A new report titled ‘How KFC is Junking the Jungle’, published by Greenpeace, alleges that Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is inadvertently aiding the destruction of Indonesia's rainforests through its packaging sourcing practices.

\Mixed tropical hardwood fibre (MTH) was found in KFC's drink cups, food boxes, napkins and chicken buckets. The fibre is produced by Asia Pulp & Paper depending on conversion of Indonesian rainforests for pulp and paper production. This bad practice is pushing endangered animals, like the Sumatran tiger, towards extinction.

Greenpeace activists have deployed a giant banner depicting a Sumatran tiger with “KFC Stop Trashing my Home” on the front pillars of the KFC headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.
