I was wondering how apt this billboard might be for Delhi – when you look at traffic sense around you and the callousness Delhi residents display for others, would someone after reading this, introspect and feel anything ? This remorse is not limited to just drivers, or to young brash people. I have seen women, young girls and even some senior citizens display such “who cares for anyone as long as I can get away” attitude.
I hope our friends in Kolkatta after reading this do some deep hard hitting introspection after what their city and brand of politicians did to Tata’s Nano project. Mamta is looking at her vote bank probably – but the state lost out on “ the beginning of a new industrial progress”.
I don’t have any political affiliations nor do I understand their compulsions – but my observation has been that Bangalore has mostly had governments who never really understood what Bangalore symbolized. Forget doing what needed to be done to give it a real chance to be a global destination for technology. So would some people in Bangalore feel anything reading this billboard?
You could map this to almost anywhere.
We were a nation who cared, helped beyond limits, lived with right values. And we sure were the happiest bunch of people in this world. Progress has to be inclusive of fundamentally right values and approach – it is only then it can last long. You bend the rules and allow “greed” and self interest take over, and you will have what we are seeing in the US and now spilling over worldwide economically. For US it’s a question of looking back and seeing where things went wrong and fixing it. For us, we have to look forward and ensure we adapt right systems for a better and happier future.
