The R word is now official in the US. The only debate is in it’s
extent – how deep and how long would this be? Will US be able to
brush past it, or get just a bit scathed in 2 quarters, or will it be
around for the whole of 2008 and hope that the Presidential elections
spark something random to help come out?
In India the I word is
official – it’s ironic how the government never takes note of
inflation when a common man, a business or a homemaker cries as they
are being hurt. They have all the right statistics and numbers to
prove these people are wrong. But if elections are round the corner,
it’s a different ball game. For then the fear of loosing power and
all it’s “associated perks” is probably too much to bear. I
believe we are in that state presently.
So how do you manage
your “export” portfolio? Euro has not been without it’s pangs of
slow down and US makes up for most of India’s exports including the
much touted IT and BPO industry.
Imagine the game – recession
where you have to sell, and inflation where you are manufacturing, or
engineering or delivering services from.
A good thinking and it shows your experience in
the business world.
