Is Women safety dependent on clock Timing?
Wednesday 17th, September 2008
In a newspaper report some stats were mentioned about working women.About 38% employee in IT and BPO sector comprises of women, excellent finally gender bias seems to be ending in India atleast in one sector.Out of them about 50% of them work in night shift, very good Indian women are no longer just a helping hand atleast in one sector.Out of them about 71.**% don't feel safe while working in night shift.I left the article there itself because already a question has started hovering in my mind.

Is women safety dependent on clock timing?Infact when women consider themselves safe.Let me tell an incidence that unfortunately i witnessed.I was going to office on a private van.A young lady also boarded the van and took the seat infront of mine,in other words I was seating beside her so I could see her but she couldn't.She was good looking ,well dressed but was looking bit depressed,i mean sad, generally a look people in IT sector have at the end of the day but atleast not in the cool morning.

Slowly by slowly van got crowded and people started standing around the people sitting on seat. Two guys must be 20-25 years of age started getting close to her and after a while the van was so crowded i couldn't see her also.

Then,a bus stop came and a man from that crowd started getting down,i could see a glimse of her face with tears filled in her eyes.I told those guys to stand at a liitle bit distance from her which they did may be due to the fear of Indian crowd which always looks for a chance for whopping but never helping.

Her head was down and eyes filled with tears,in the next stop she got down without looking at anyone.I discussed this with my college friend she told if one wants to be safe one has to have some guts atleast.

But i have a difference in opinion, she was not a newcomer in Metropolitan city, she must have completed her education in such kind of city and must be working for atleast 2-3 years, she mustn't be crying everyday, infact no one can ,then what happened today.

She was looking like married may be for 1 year, and something wrong must have happened at her home, may be a fight with a hubby or something else. But whatever may have happened it has seriously shaken her identity as an individual,so when others were questioning her identity through foul behavior, she was not answering but cursing herself  for being herself by crying.

Now ,I hope a lot of you might have understood why i didn\'t read the article completely.Safety can't be constrained in clock timing but in one\'s identity. One's identity has to be first safe then only other safety measures will work.

The stats was telling about all well educated women of India,it means strong women of india. One major factor according to me lacking in India is respecting each other's identity, and disrespect is done by both sexes against each other, ofcorse majority of times from male group. From school days i remember boys and girls used to be two groups fighting against each other,I don't remember a class where it was taught we should respect each other.

Today, boys and girls are friends but just for fun ,i guess, leave the girls whom we known, how many unknown girls we respect .......or how many boys we respect if we are girl......answer this question frankly. It has always been taught to us we should respect sister, friend ,relatives, wife(in some case);but what about those who doesn't fall in this category.......so we are dangerous for those category right. And women who doesn't fall in those category will not feel safe because that is what she has been taught or she may have observed all throughout.Remember this is an ideal condition ,sometimes even that category is not safe.

A biggest example of this I saw  recently in one movie,in which one dialouge was there'It takes minutes for human being to change to animals and commit such crime'.We have to think ways of doing something in those minutes to prevent a person from changing.First let\'s take educated folk because a lots of those 71.**% must be feeling unsafe from these educated folks.Lets bring a culture in schools, colleges and most importantly in home 'Let's respect each other with the difference.'I hope this will work a lot better than other measures.

I do agree with your views, we need to come out with some solid strategy for it.
