Four Ds
Sunday 19th, October 2008

You may wonder What is Four Ds.
Stop for a moment and look at the tasks you have to handle.
You may end up with one of the following 4 Ds.

!.Defer it.
2.Dump it.
3.Delegate.
4.Do it.

When job/decision is entrusted, we have to deal with the situation in one of the above 4 ways.

We find the best thing is to just do it.
We also have other options as indicated above.
If one is unable to cope with the work load one may defer or dump it for a while.
Given the resources, the best option would be to delegate it to someone down the lineAfter delegating, one still owns the responsibility for the completion or delivery.

When choosing to dump, one is in fact making a decision based on some assessment and the responsibility for the consequences will vest in the person choosing to dump.

Deferral will give a breather. This option is to be chosen when the issue is not really urgent and the consequence of deferring will not cost  anything.

Sometimes one may need to juggle.

Any way find out the pattern you follow.Review the results.
If necessary alter it for better efficiency.
