Design Engineer, ...

What might a corrupt politician do to become the chief minister of a state : bribe voters, buy out legislators to support him, possibly even threaten them, arm twist other parties, much larger than yours, into supporting you, at the expense of a fragile government at a different level, may be involve the governor, but it turns out all that is not enough, not anymore.

In a resounding electoral verdict, Shibu Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand lost the by-elections to the state legislature, to a political greenhorn, which under the constitution disqualifies him from the seat of power. This is only the second instance where a 'head-of-state' has lost a by-election and needs to be ousted from office. This effectively proves that the will of the people cannot be subverted by corrupt politicians, and that any attempt to not follow their lead will lead to such eventual shame and fall from grace.

Also, it again restores my belief, that despite all our contradictions and differences, we the people of this country, can make our voices heard, and choose our destiny, and our leaders. Long live the free people.
