Today it is more common that Individuals have income from many sources in addition to Salary. That might include but not limited to income from Bank Interest, Shares, Mutual Funds, House Rent . For income from salary, employers deduct taxes and pay to the government. You might have to pay advance tax before March 15, 2011 if you have income from any other source where in tax has not been deducted.

Find below step by step instructions on how to pay Advance Tax
1) Visit the Income Tax Dept / NSDL website. https://onlineservices.tin.nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp2) Click on the “CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280”
3) On this page choose “(0021)INCOME-TAX (OTHER THAN COMPANIES)”
4) Type your “Permanent Account No*” [PAN]
5) Choose “Assessment Year*” choose “2011 – 2012”
6) Fill up all other details requested (highlighted in red in the below Image)
7) For “Type Of Payment*” choose “(100)ADVANCE TAX”
8 ) Choose your “Bank Name*” where you have online banking, so that you can pay your taxes
9) Click on Proceed, (located at the bottom of the page)
