Reason why India is still developing... Beautiful...

Really good read it.....: Give a thought....Nice One

An Old Story:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and

laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the

summer away.

Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or

shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Indian Version:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and

laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the

summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and

demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed

while others are cold and starving.

NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper

next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled

with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor

Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.

Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that

Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter .

Mayawati states this as `injustice' done on Minorities.

Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for

not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the

Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt

support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance).

Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for 'Bengal Bandh' in

West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard

in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and

Grasshoppers.

Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway

Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the ' Prevention of Terrorism

Against Grasshoppers Act' [POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the

winter.

Arjun Singh makes 'Special Reservation ' for Grasshoppers in Educational

Institutions & in Government Services.

The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left

to pay his retroactive taxes,it's home is confiscated by the Government

and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.

Arundhati Roy calls it ' A Triumph of Justice'.

Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice '.

CPM calls it the ' Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden '

Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.

Many years later...

The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar

company in Silicon Valley,

100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere

in India,

.

..AND

As a result of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the

grasshoppers,

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

India is still a developing country…!!!

thats a good one Mr. Vicky sounds really interesting, because practically it happens with most of the murder and vehicle hit & run cases across the country. The media is nowhere to be found till the end result, it just hypes it and disappears or shifts to some other topic.

Respected Vicky Sir,

Excellent article. You've demonstrated the system in India and hence mentality of Indian people beautifully. Worth reading thoughts. Even though the ants(Hard working Indians) in foreign adore their mother India they work for foreigners as they are satisfied with their demands fulfilled by foreigners. But here Grasshoppers remain as they are forever due to system. it doesn't mean that Sytem in India is completely negative side. Others may go for a strike in India
but never Soldiers as soldires are given all the facilities by the same system of India. Either it may be ant or grasshopper i think one has to try to live for country first inspite of waiting for facilities from system side. Here problem is with both system and person. When we give first priority to country then India will be developed faster. Thank you very much for analysing the situation and alerting all of us. Please do share such awaking and inspiring thoughts. Thank you very much.

Read the article on Reverse Imperialism. Dont you think there are people, who grew up in India, are infact changing the world? Again, if you feel all the poor / downtrodden people are preventing you from fairing good enough in this country, do something like the TATAs. Article on Reverse Imperialism.

I am sorry for being a little harsh Mr.Vicky. Be the change you want to happen. How many of us strictly adhere to the traffic rules? How many of us strictly adhere to not driving on the wrong side of the road? How many of us are true tax payers? Remember, even for a land, there is a concept called marker price and guideline price, and even the banks fund you for market values..Why all this?? How many of us are ready to shell out that extra money towards registration showing the actual price u r selling or buying a property for? How many of you are ready to fight out when the RTO denies you license for money? How many of us just shell out what the RTO asks and get it done? How many of us fight or even open our mouth asking if you see a small kid begging/working? I meant child labour? No need to be a reformist, but we dont care to do something that comes past us, or even care to open our mouth on any of the above issues, or try to follow them, I MEAN DONT TRY TO BE THE CHANGE WE WANT, BUT WE WANT INDIA TO BE DEVELOPED???!!! Finally, lemme tell you somethjing, too much of processes havent taken the United States anywhere, other than a steep Sub-Prime Financial Crisis, where as India is partly saved because of the black economy, which prevails. We cannot comment on whats goonna happen in the future. India is improving. You have everything here. You just have to learn to live in it and you enjoy. If you are the change you want, and each one does, you will change India. I dont accept those simply writing blogs and doing nothing. DONT BLAME YOUR COUNTRY, IF YOU CAN BE A GANDHI/NETAJI/MARTINLUTHER, you are welcome to instill that change, even in the US, Blacks were suffering for generations, till Martin Luther dawned on them.If you cant be anyone of these, atleast be the change you want to see in your homeland.

really a nice one for the icy poeple...reservation should be given for the people who need it.. not just coz u r born as a whteva whteva... for eg reservation for the low income group students if they r ELIGIBLE for the medical.. they ispite of getting high scores r unable to pay such high fees. and tht seat goes to a person who has not even scored half the topper.....now where is tht so called justice... no wonder there r less number of real doctors and there r more bridges fallin....its high time we bent the rules for the present time...

Yes Mr Amit Maurya, its a real good view. Thats why this site is standing alone from all other sites.
1. There is a section called University (http://www.siliconindia.com/university/index.php) here they are giving free training for all the people. If you are interested to help the young generation, you can also become an instructor and give some courses.
2. There is a section called Mentorship (http://www.siliconindia.com/mentorship_new/mentor home.php) There are lot of mentors who are knowledge banks and industry experienced people. The guys can go become an apprentice and get guided by the mentors (absolutely free)
3. I hope siliconindia will come up with some ideas to help the poor in out country

Comment 12: By amit maurya on 06th Jun 2008
It is a really good thought and sarcastic way you have presented is really good .vicky my personal point of view is that if you want to really help needy people upgrade the class do provide them help in monitory terms like less fees and not a reservation .by reserving things you are denying the people who should get a reservation . it shouldnt be caste based it should be in terms of thier financial status.
I dod not want want offend any bodys feeling but that is my view .

a great thought and a good piece of imagination related to us as Indians!!!!

Comment 14: By Venkat Ramana on 05th Jun 2008
Reservation should be given to the needy. There should be a time frame for the politicians to scrap this reservations and the politicians should be accountable for this. At the same time the brilliant brains should be retained rather than leaving them to migrate to greener pastures.

Comment 15: By Vicky Rockstar on 05th Jun 2008
Ya you are very much right Mr. Vamanan Venugopal. We are going to be the BIGGEST ECONOMY... ha ha ha What should i tell for this: in your language horse shit na PIG SHIT... In my school days my teacher used to teach me India is a developing country and America is a developed country and after 10 years we will be a developed country. But now also people are saying after 10 yrs we gonna be there. And you very brilliantly 25 yrs, god knows I will be alive or not that time :-)

Comment 16: By Vamanan Venugopal on 05th Jun 2008
"laughs & dances & plays the summer away" - May not be applicable to all the poor. Moreover, This article is stupidity. There is no reservation in India based on financial status yet, which might have prevented the comfortable (read it as rich) from having a better life. This article is just an expression of thoughts by someone who is not mature enough about what he is talking about. Still, with whatever is happening in our country, China and India are predicted to be biggest economies 25 years from now, by various studies. There was a related article right here in silicon india. This article is nothing but horse shit.

Hey thanks Christo, for your great comment :-)

Great imagination! I do agree with you. Now journalists are trying to sensationalize everything. They have forgotten the ethics of journalism and the trend is that any Tom, dick an Harry can become a journalist. Keep Voicing your opinion.

Comment 22: By Vineetha Nair on 05th Jun 2008
This story clearly depicts the present condition of India.People are ready to take up stand for no issue as in this, even grasshopper is guilty but poor ant is held guilty for crime of its own.In India also their are so many issues which need to be paid immediate attention but attention is grabbed by all scrap issues. Its high times Indians should start thinking logically.
