HUF and India, received a few questions; three separate readers have asked me to provide information on, “How to separate constructively”. All the three queries have come from Tamilnadu. I am studying the subject and soon I shall be able to provide the required information.

World Bank marketing agent for builders?

Recently World Bank issued its development report for 2009. In that it suggests that people from under developed areas should migrate per force to congested cities like Mumbai. Giving justification that such migration helps development of people (Which people and whose development?). And to justify that claim it has shown some examples of Japan and Brazil. World Bank seems to have forgotten that India is a democratic state and not a slave market so that one can push slaves anywhere they please! Because of the mean behavior of our diplomats in the international environment world bodies don’t bother to respect Indians.

The World Bank report also has claimed that people staying in congested areas in the city are more efficient! Reading this report one smells something else. All the claims made to justify forced migration to cities are challengeable and counter examples can be produced to show that World Bank has some other ulterior motive behind this absurd suggestion. World Bank is not bothered about health hazards and other degradation of values of human life. Being a bank we can understand that this institution is bothered about only money aspect and all other aspects are not considered. However as a planner of society one must take into consideration all human aspects. They are moral values, health, security and safety and also money. We have good experience that in cities like Mumbai moral degradation is very fast. Health hazards are acute and security and safety are jeopardized so much that people become psychologically stressed. Pollution is an additional hazard of which no body is talking! Many health hazards are experienced by people under constant mental stress. That clearly shows that World Bank is not to be taken as an authority for development. What has happened in US which follows the norms of World Bank? Moral degradation and crime due to that are common place in US life. As we have begun to accept that life style, we have also seen similar crimes happening in our cities.

World Bank claim that development is possible in cities better has been proved to be absolutely wrong by many examples in our country and also in other countries. Competency and efficiency has nothing to do with where the person stays. An efficient person is efficient anywhere he is and an inefficient person does not become efficient by placing him in a city. Many business groups have shown great progress while remaining in the rural areas for example, Jain group of Jalgaon, Videocone of Aurangabad, Kirloskars from Kirloskarwadi and many more. Almost thousands of such examples can be produced to prove that World Bank is talking nonsense. Then why it is talking that way? A question worth bothering about! They are definitely not fools in that case what is the ulterior motive.

Presently we know that builder lobby in Mumbai is worried about the way people have shown apathy to purchasing house in the city of Mumbai. Building activity is stalled; heavy investment in that sector is about to be in a big mess. Condition similar to what they experience in US. Our government has forced Banks to give low rate loans to prospective buyers but in spite of all these efforts the business does not pick up. This in some way has irked World Bank authorities who must have invested their funds in that business. I have misgiving that through this report World Bank wants to instigate our government of idiots like Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram like criminals to force people to move to Mumbai so that the houses they have built are sold! In a way we have reason to suspect that this World Bank is now working as an agent of builder’s lobby of Mumbai builders.

If we see prices of flats in Mumbai any body can understand that they are over priced. When we ask builder for this over price they say that is the price of Mumbai! On breaking the price to its elements we find that the difference between actual cost (not price) of construction and the final price is exorbitant.

Why government forces Banks to give subsidies on loan? At whose cost? Of course at the cost of the depositors! If government wants to give subsidized loans then the burden must be taken by the government. Banks shall charge there regular rates and government shall pay the difference for the borrowers to the Banks that should be the arrangement. Will any body explain why government is exploiting the awkward position of the Banks in this way? Banks are supposed to make profits and they are not established to do charity for the whims of a government. Is it because our government has been high jacked by scoundrels of political parties?
