Aravind Ms's Story

Current Job Description
I work as a Business Analyst in a software company. I try to be a bridge between the software developers and business users/people.
Qualities require to be successful
Analytic skills, Structured thinking, Communication skills etc are necessary to be successful. Continuous improvement, focus towards learning as much as possible from any assignment, Crossing borders to gain business implications of the work you do will help an analyst focus more energy on day to day work and also keep oneself motivated.
Influenced by
Nassim Nicholas Taleb- I have been influenced by his books, thinking and philosophy
Important decision taken
Moving back to a software company after an MBA and after working for two companies not in the software sector
Initiative taken by professionals to develop a country
Professionals should focus on being productive in office. They can also try spending time on some additional projects which may help the community, society and country.
My achievements
Not much to talk about. But at times, I have seen mostly positive responses from the clients/superiors to my deliverable and work.
My thought on education system in India
I am deeply saddened by the education system in India. In most places, there is very less emphasis on learning. More and more attention is given to grades and marks. The technical education is also equally bad except some top tier institutions. The salary of teachers demands a raise and hopefully it will attract some better kind of people into the system. More emphasis on learning and innovative methods to teach basic stuff will go a long way.
Couple of years from now
I see myself in more or less same or similar role. Two years is very short time to see a lot of change.
My Strongest Skill
Integrity and a focus towards continuos learning and improvement
Concept of Analyst
An Analyst is expected to derive meaning out of unstructured data. This also means that he should not derive wrong meanings when there are no meanings. An analyst should be able to understand complex business processes and explain it to a layman in simple terms.
Upcoming trends
I work in the financial markets and regulations domain. I have been seeing more and more focus on regulation and emergence of new regulatory practices with respect to trading, capital markets and risk management. I don't know if these will help me in any way. But this means that the software companies will have continuous work in terms of modifying their products to suit the current and emerging trends.
Avoiding mistake and connecting right dots
I try to stick to my core competencies and try not to jump into an unknown ocean without appropriate preparation.I stress on the right amount of planning. However, I try to be comfortable even under uncertain times.
Handling risky decision
Yes. I have taken many risks. Some of them have given me rewards, while some have been setbacks. I think we have to take risks in which rewards are in our favor. The final outcome is immaterial.
