Avinash Saoji's Story

The Journey So Far:
I started working with a NGO, worked for 8 years. Then founded PRAYAS, our own NGO & worked in rural & tribal area in field of community heath, functional literacy, youth development & others for 22 years. Now engaged mainly in helping people in finding out their meaning of life acting as mentor.
The Decisions That Matter
I had decided not to go for PG after MBBS, though I could get it in 4 clinical subjects. I was interested in serving the masses rather than utilizing my skills & knowledge for a small sector of society. Though it was ridiculous in terms of others, it proved to be very much aligned with my objective
Degrees That Matter:
Nothing specific. Just find out your passion, do your job for 5-11 with sincere efforts, be ready to learn from anybody. It is you & not the degrees/certifications that matters. Certification by your own self is the highest one. You should feel that you are doing something good & meaningful.
Working Life Management:
My personal & professional life are the same one. I made my passion as my profession. So I don't live two separate lives. I am in the social field since last 29 years & enjoying & experiencing a very enriched & meaningful life.
Done Differently:
No change. It was perfect for me.
Plans For The Future:
I see that the community of good people actively engaged in creative & constructive activities for the betterment of mankind will become more strong & big. I will be having a key contributory role in these efforts.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
having a great worth in terms of relationship. Being able to act as catalyst/mentor in the lives of many many people in their journey to find out their meaning of life.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
Pace is increased, technology is being used all over, but the basic human behaviour is the same one. problems & challenges have changed their nature.
Other Thoughts:
I have completed 51 years now & decided to live for a total of 100 years. So I have only 49 years left with me & lot many things to do in my life time. I want all my friends & well wishers to actively join me in these efforts of making this world a better place by contributing money/time/skills etc.
Required Reading:
My experiments with truth by Gandhiji Swami Vivekananda's books Biographies & Auto Biographies of all great leaders in all sectors of society.
Advice For New Professionals:
Try to make your passion as your profession. Enjoy every moment of life. Always keep the death of yourself in-front of you, so that you can really lead a meaningful & focused life.
Role Model:
Lot many. Gandhiji, Vinoba Bhave, Sane Guruji, Swami Vivakanand, Sant Dnyaneshwar, Gadage Maharaj, Baba Amte & many others.
