One thing the current Anna's campaign has done is to make every corrupt officer or official and even politicians jittery. Threatened by honesty, and people's refusal to bend against unreasonable demands of people in power, the common man would take a sigh of relief.  Yes, you will be threatened and bullied for a while, but if you know you are right, honest and want to stay upright despite the pressure, there would be more who would join you.

Just last week, five of us ventured into a new start up and were looking for space in a mall.  The mall's estate manager arranged a meeting with the landlord owning the space, and a general agreement was reached for the rent. Just as we were ready to depart, the estate manager of the mall demanded one-months' rent as brokers' fee.  While my partners kept quite, I asked the person, as to where is the broker, since the deal is between the mall, the landlord and the tenant directly? The estate manager said that he would take one month rent as broker fee since he had managed the deal. I refused and spoke with his senior colleague who must have either warned him or would have checked it out with him.  The estate manager later called up one of our directors and threatened him and said that he would not let the deal fructify.

Well, the fight is on.  And every day, each one of us, in our own lives, must remember that Anna is fighting for a corruption-free India.  The fight would be successful only when we say 'No' to corruption. And I'm sure, honesty will win.
