When was the last time you entered password at some place & it went wrong. Then system kept on asking you some more passwords to confirm your identity. In response, you entered whatever you could recall, thinking something will go right! But Alas! You were denied access. You waited, looked at screen in front of you blankly...you were helpless...Welcome to the world of Passwords!

Don't be serious. Perhaps you are not alone. Many of us face the trial of forgetting passwords and then messing up things. And don't blame it on your poor memory which was fine till you passed on your last college exam. You could still remember some of the answers in question paper, but hardly could you figure out last password you entered some time back. Isn't it funny?

Not actually! In an urban man's life, starting from morning 9 to evening 7, he/she actually enters more number of passwords than he/she could actually think of remembering. You do the process so routinely & carelessly that, bye the time you try to recall, you could hardly remember what it was actually. But do know why it happens? Did you think of it seriously anytime?

Answer is not easy. I was actually trying to figure it out for some days, but I feel it is more tough than recalling a password…Jokes apart...let's say I hold 3 email accounts & 2 bank accounts...Now for 3 emails I use 3 different passwords...Oh God!!!...And then for 2 bank accounts I have 8 different passwords...Starting from e-banking, phone-banking to ATM banking and then for transactions one more...He Ram! Someday back, a guy came to my desk and congratulated me all of a sudden. After accepting the kind gesture and ordering a coffee for him...I asked what the purpose of his human existence that brought him to poor man's desk. He promptly replied that I have won so & so Bank's Debit card for free and for that I need to open a saving account in bank. I was prepared by this time. So I asked him a simple question, how many passwords do I need to remember in order to access my so & so bank's account smoothly? After looking at his facial expression, I decided not to trouble my poor memory and kindly rejected the offer.

It is actually a funny thing that we forget passwords more than remembering marriage anniversaries, B'days etc. The system, in which we live in and operate, is a computerized one. There is hardly anything mechanical except the process we follow to access the system. There is no human touch in it. And by the time, we are accustomed to using it, we ended up making a system where Trust itself is made up of few characters entered into blank spaces. What we enter is not password but trust that system relies on. Strange! If you think in that way then the matter is more simplified.

In modern world, the word trust has long forgotten and replaced by word password. I think Thesaurus should add word password as a synonym to word trust. It is our own creation, which is creating hindrance to our smooth functioning of life. So many bank accounts, emails, ATMs, server logins, X login, Y login and Lablab....Hush!!! Exhausted...

And after all this mess of remembering so many passwords, do you think we live & operate in a secure world? More the passwords we use, more we tend to forget & more we risk the security. Then why we keep on recalling & entering new passwords every other day? God Only knows...

Even I could imagine a new law on the same lines of Moore's law, Law of Recalling number of passwords, which says the number of passwords need to remember will double every six months. Very funny!!!

Where are we going to lead this way? As days are passing by, long gone trust, security concerns have givens us sleepless nights. And security is at stake, no one wants to take risk. So to give extra security, we end up creating the web of passwords around us. In short, we are spiders who weave our own mess of password to protect ourseleves from some other mess. Isn’t it strange fact that everything is virtual, starting from threats to security. We remember the passwords which are itself virtual, to protect ourselves or our virtual belongings from virtual threats of hacking. And it goes on and on. I fear coming generation will have more passwords to remember than names of friends or fruits or leaders or anything numerable. Books will have separate chapters on Tip & Tricks of remembering passwords. And on Internet, every single day gives new threat to existence of our data, we will keep on manipulating security identifiers till it becomes exceedingly difficult to make new one.

Don't write it...don't rote it...I am the Password...Master of Human Brain...You don't remember? You can't recall? That's why I am Master of Mankind...Those who got it have mastered the Art of Existence!

Probably this is going to be the next Step in Human Evolution...remembering all passwords...

And I could imagine that the days are not long when dead men will be asked to enter their identity (password) into system, to get access to the final rites of existence...Oh God! Please save us!

And then system asks you to enter your identity to get help of God….Oh! Please! I should stop it now…

Good Night!!!
