Why do you need Broadband?

Founder of Telecomblogs India
Hi people...Dnt worry about answering the above question...it is not technical Q&A session...nor do I belong to category of examiner...but that dosen't stop me from thinking about technology and its implications on your life...

Now when these days everyone is talking about broadband technology...wht is it? Why do it is necessary for you to know about it..? .Lets take an example...you dnt have a broadband connection at home...how it will affect your life? How can it be useful for you..??

It is season of travel booking ....whenever I go to cafe...I find 90% people out there for booking railway tickets for Diwali...If you dnt have a broaband at home...either you have to go to railway stn or extension counter personally or contact a travel agent personally..or go to cafe and ask someone to do you a favor of booking a ticket for you...

Now think you have BB at home...you go home...u login to Indian railways ...check status of railways running and seats available on ur own...and book ticket...thats it...its done..nothing else...print it anywhere...Isn't it easy..? Is n't it helpful...?

What you need for that..? A computer at home with BB connection from any service provider...It comes at chepest price in the history of BB prices till date...

But wht else can you do with your BB connection..? You can write wonderful blogs...of course...but if in case you are not blogger then...I am not kidding...I have to answer it to you...

Most of the time..BB is defines as speed of wired or wireless link not less that 256kbps i.e kilo bits persecond of data...forget about wht that kbps is...this is standard defination of BB in India..thats it..you dnt have to know anything more than this..

Now main thing...my topic why you need it..? Many times you have seen advertisements of service providers of new BB schemes...at different prices..2mbps..4mbps..at 99.at 200/- etc etc...are you bothered about those rates..? are you bothered about money...?? May be both...may not be..

Generally...BB...is nothing but the fastest way to access the Internet...the Knowledge network ...at the click of mouse you open the great door of knowledge to you...you ask and you get almost sure answer of it...then why u really dnt go for it..?

It has something to do with the way BB is advertised in India...People are good at selling anything to anyone these days..people sell bits per second at 99/-....And you really dnt know wht those bits are...and why they are counted at per sec...and from where the hell they come from..and so on...It appears to be too arcane or mystereious to a layman...

If I would have to sell BB to home...I would focus of its application...I would focus on how it can be useful to you...whosoever you are...a engineer...a doc..a lawyer..a driver...whosoever...Internet is not for anyone specfic...it is universal phenomenon...It is not for Engineers only...nor for Doc...It is for us...we ...the people...

Just like an example of Railway booking...there are so many things possible out there..Emails...Videos...News...Playing Games..anything..you think of...and you can make use of it...

Like I was talking the applicability of BB in rural area..where in schools we dnt have teachers to teach students..We can carry BB connection to such places.(Dnt go in deep how) and teach student online .....Dosen't it save money..? Dosen't it lessen the digital divide..?  More than money...imagine the best use of technology for unprevileged school children who and or otherwise no access to good education...

Other such thing is telemedicine...or content helpful for farmers...telephone/electricity  bill payment...LPG booking...Bus ticket booking...searching home...finding jobs...finding prospective bride/grooms....anything...possible..

So next time when you see the advertisement of BB anywhere...forget about Bits/megabits...forget about rupees...just think of anything you would have thought of doing it in nearest cybercafe with help of someone..Now think of BB at home..you can do it urself..save money..save time...with some initial investment with millions or billion time returns...lifelong..

I would like to quote a sentence from Warren Buffet speech when he was asked to define what is best investment. He replied "which you invest in yourself.."  I just can't stop myself from saying ..BB is the same...investment in yourself..

(Though I was not able to include so many other realted aspects of Interent my basic idea of why you need Broadband at home was to make you aware of infinite potential of Internet at meagre cost of investment..)
