Q1: Movie Maker that works with GoPro Hero HD Helmet Cam?

So I got a GoPro Hero HD Helmet Cam and Im trying to edit the footage but the videos will not work with Windows Movie Maker 2.6 or Windows DVD Maker. When I click on the file to import them into the program, it says the file is empty. Yet I can open the file and click on the raw footage and view it in Windows Media Player. Is there something I need to do to convert the files or is there a special editing program I need to buy? Thanks!
