Power went off again...absolute darkness. What to do?

Business Analyst

2 Oct2009. It was a holiday but unexpected power cuts spoiled my cyber socialization.UPS stands red and started whistling. Rice soaked for dinner made me further restless and hungry too. I felt so irritated, switched off PC and decided to prepare dinner. Suddenly power went off again...absolute darkness. What to do?

Started thinking of alternate sources of light. What can be the alternate source? How do I beat darkness? What is the time required to perform all these? Many questions flashed in my mind!

To light a candle, I require either a match box or a cigarette lighter. Being anon-smoker, cigarette lighter was out of scope.
I knew where I kept the candle last time. So approached the showcase in drawing room, in absolute darkness and started exploring the candle. Finally my hands touched the candles and then a match box too. Opened the match box but unfortunately there was no stick. I was in a fix for a while...thinking for next feasible lighting source.

Got another idea to light the candle using cooking gas stove. Slowly moved to kitchen with the candle, took the gas lighter and lit the stove first. Finally with the help of flames in gas stove, I got light in my room. It took 4-5minutes to happen

Why I did all these activities (thinking, planning and action), to achieve my 'goal', right? A series of activities enriched with determination to achieve the known goal, made me to achieve it. This is motivation. If I was not hungry, I may decide to sit in darkness or decide to go to bed and sleep. So here ‘hunger’ acted as the driving force to achieve the goal.
