Infrastructure Planning Green

Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has been identified as a growth centre with all modern infrastructure facilities for business and residential purposes. Development of SEZs facilitates high economic and national growth with social development of the surroundings. Processes of Industrialization and Urbanization should consider environment as a major factor to achieve the goal of sustainable development.

The envisaged key issues in environmental planning of a SEZ include the following:

1. Land use management.

2. Water management.

3. Energy management.

4. Environmental pollution and waste management.

5. Regional socio-economic development.

Accordingly, environmental spatial planning principles along with environmental management plan shall be integrated into the developmental plan of the processing and non-processing areas of the SEZ.
