Delhi University website shows incorrect exam marks

A Delhi University initiative to make the first semester exam marksheets available online caused panic after a “technical problem” led to incorrect results being uploaded on the website.

Students who checked Delhi University website for the marksheets uploaded under individual roll numbers, found their marks scaled down by several percentage points from the figures released officially in December, and raised the alarm, leading to the University Exam Branch to issue a clarification and withdraw the data from the website.

“I checked the website after a classmate said that the results had been scaled down. For my course, English Honours, the results were down by eight per cent. There was a lot of confusion as we are preparing for the second semester exams. None of us were able to study,” said Srishti Gupta, a second-semester student from Khalsa College.

Students met officials from the Exam branch on Thursday afternoon. University officials said the mix-up was caused by a technical error in the merging of different sections of the marksheet.

“Marksheets were uploaded on Tuesday. But there were some problems... it is being rectified.” said Dr Suman Kumar Verma, Officer on Special Duty at the Exams branch.
