IGNOU started admission process for Online Agriculture Programme

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started admission process for two courses on agriculture policy and food safety, a statement said on 4th May 2012.

Ignou Admissions are open for Post Graduate Certificate in Agriculture Policy (PGCAP) and Post Graduate Diploma in Food Safety and Quality Management (PGDFSQM) for the July 2012 session.

Eligibility Criteria for PGCAP:
The eligibility criteria for this six months programme is graduation in any discipline.

"The PGCAP programme is meant for learners concerned to learn about developing human resource for planning, development and implementation of national policies in agriculture," said the statement.

"The PGDFSQM aims to develop professionals for development, implementation and auditing of food safety and quality management in the country. Graduates of science, arts or commerce background with relevant experience are eligible to apply for the PG diploma programme. The minimum duration of the course is one year and maximum is four years," the statement added.

Periodically assess and accredit institutions of Open and Distance Learning to promote centres of excellence in the country. Develop networks, using emerging technologies and methods, with global reach for effective programme delivery.

Provide an intelligent and flexible system of education to meet the challenges of access and equity, and work towards development of a knowledge society. Forge convergence of all systems and work for seamless education across national boundaries to develop global collaboration and partnership.

Take education to the hitherto unreached and promote community participation for local development through life-coping skills. Provide specific need-based education and training opportunities for continuous professional development and skill upgradation to in-service professionals.
