Can we use a xbox usb drive instead of getting a hard drive to play xbox game?

For original Xbox games, we have no choice but one of the real xbox 360 hard drives which are specially formatted to work with the Xbox emulation software. Flash drives and USB hard drives aren't formatted in the same way, and don't work for original Xbox games. You just need to plug it in, and go to memory, and find it. It should say it has to be a certain size (less than a gig i think) and part of it has to be reserved and made for only the Xbox 360 use. Then it can be used for game saves and all.
That has nothing really to do with playing XBOX games though. Updates keep getting sent out for playing Xbox games on Xbox 360, and only the most popular older Xbox games like halo and halo 2, ext. If your trying to play some older games, connect to Xbox live or at least the internet and get the updates. Hopefully your Xbox games will work but if not, there's nothing you can do.

If you mean to play Original Xbox games, not Xbox 360 games you need a hard drive as the compatibility files are only stored on the hard drives. You will have to buy an official hard drive for your console.
