The recent mindless and inhuman murder of the leaders of Congress party in Chhatisgarh committed by Maoists proves the indomitable spirit of the Naxal militant movement in India. Taking birth as a class war against the landlords, this class war has over the years become a war against the established governments and against the democratic movement.

One Mr. Ramachandra Guha has written a wonderful article in The Hindu dated 28th May under the title “The continuing tragedy of the Adivasis".  It is really an eye opening article for us. I have also written a blog in Silicon India under the caption, “Has the Indian media divided India?”.

Mr. Ramachandra Guha has finally suggested to the Prime Minister and the Chairperson of the UPA to tour together through the strife-torn areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Orissa, promising the full implementation of the Forest Rights Act, a temporary ban on mining projects in Fifth Schedule Areas, and a revival of the powers of Gram Panchayats. That would be a far more effective strike against Naxalites than sending in fighter planes or massed battalions.

Today the media highlights not only on the attacks made by Maoists on the politicians, paramilitary forces but also on the real problems faced by the Adivasis.

It is high time we had mobilized the urban youths, especially engineers and doctors, for working among the tribal communities so that we can reclaim the lost territory and win the confidence of Adivasis and the militant tribal youths who have taken up arms against the Urban India.
