Connecting different traditions, ideas and myths

The origin of different cultures, religions with varied traditions, practices and ideas are  mainly due to different effect of natural forces at different places and the people of the area trying to explain someway.

There was great effect of local climate and environment on those explanations and thinkings.

When scientific theories are fitted correctly and natural phenomena are explained then how people thought in the past  and why it differed gets explained.

It is always better to find out the possible causes of the religions starting at different places and spreading with different type of faiths.

We find in many early civilizations the regularity of motion of the celestial bodies like sun and moon was recognized and attempts were made to keep records and predict future events.

Conflicts between different religions and faiths exist due to the difficulty in explaining the natural phenomena.

Today due to advances in science we know so many things correctly about our solar system, the orbiting of planets and how the night sky is seen from different parts of our globe at different time of the year.

Our solar system consists of an average star we call the Sun and the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Urans, Neptune and Pluto.

It also includes satellites of the planets , comets, asteroids and meteoroids and interplanetary medium. The sun is the richest source of electromagnetic radiations which is mostly in the form of heat and light.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It is one third the size of the earth. It is smaller than any other planet except Pluto.

Venus is the second planet from the sun. After sun and moon venus is the brightest object in the sky. It is often called a morning star when it appears in the east before sunrise and  the evening star when it is seen in the western sky after sunset. Because the planet orbits closer to Sun than the earth does. Venus seems to either precede or trail   sun in the sky. Venus orbits the sun once in 224 days.

Earth is the third planet from the sun. Earth has one natural satellite which is moon.

Mars is fourth planet from the sun.It appears red in earths night sky. Mars is relatively small planet with half of earth’s diameter.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from  sun and the largest planet in the solar system, the fourth brightest object on  earth’s sky after sun, moon and venus. Jupiter takes 11.9 earth year to orbit sun once.       Jupiter is encircled by 16 natural satellites and a series of thin rings and is similar to miniature solar system.

Saturn is the sixth planet in order of distance from sun. It is second largest planet in our solar system. Saturn appears in the sky as a yellow starlike object. When viewed through  powerful telescope it is seen as a golden sphere crossed by a series of lightly colored rings parallel to the equator. Its period of revolution is around 29.5 years.

Urans is the seventh planet of our solar system. It is the third largest planet. When viewed through telescope appears as a bluish green disk.

Neptune is the eighth planet and fourth largest in diameter,

Pluto is the nineth and most distant planet.

We find about ancient civilizations from excavations. like the Indus valley civilization is known from the findings from excavation in Harappa and Mohenzodaro. W e come to know about what they followed from the articles  recovered like pottery, seals and amulets  they used. And their writings and art  on those articles. They worshipped god, like shiva and shakti. They  worshipped useful things like tree, animals and stones.

They associated natural disasters  to anger of  god shiva. Few ideas are found in the rituals followed   today during festivals like shiva ratri etc.

Hindu religion originated during Indus civilization.

When we see phenomena like tsunami, earthquake and observe sky during such time we get the opportunity to link how people thought in the past when they observed such things and can relate the rituals and mythological stories we read.
