TCS cuts staff's travel use video conferences instead
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has adopted several measures likeavoiding travel and moving people from onsite to offshore to cut down costs, asenior official of the company said here on Wednesday.
"These are difficult times. One of the things we have increased isthe number of video conferences between cities in India for people to discussvarious matters. So we are making use of earlier infrastructure to a greaterextent than before," Kesav Nori, Executive vice-president of TCS, toldPTI.
"We are avoiding travel, using telephone and telephonic conversations, webcasting... All these have increased internally. There is a greater move frompeople onsite to offshore," he said. There is also a great emphasis onmaking people more productive, Nori said. Replying to a query, he said all thecampus recruitments made by the company will be honoured.
"All the campus recruitmens have been made, they will be honoured. Theywill be staggered because they have to join our training facilities. So TCS hasbeen good. It is not there to do people out of jobs, but it wants everybody tobecome more productive," he said.
Nori was speaking on the sidelines of a function where the Computer Based FunctionalLiteracy (CBFL) was launched at office of city's prominent Urdu daily 'Siasat'
