Are we getting the true meaning of leadership! Is the leadership means to be a head of the team or to be a one and only decision maker. According to my understanding leadership means to be a leader of our work, finding the best way to do our work, leader of all the areas which are related to our work process, leader in learning, leader to decide the path of success. To be a leader, first we should need to be a follower. Here follower does not mean who is working under someone or following someone. The true definition of follower, one who follows the work assigned, follows the guidelines, rules, deadlines and quality of work. We ought to be a master in following skills and abilities which will give us a perfection to be a future leader.

After becoming an excellent follower there will be no need of any leadership classes or institution to learn leadership skills. You can learn it by yourself at your workplace, college, school and home on daily basis.

But…………… this is not an easy task, the toughest one. In this process at very first we need to set a goal or area where we would like to see ourselves as a leader. Then second step is introspecting ourselves to find out our weaknesses, vices & the areas where we are lacking. Third step is the most important one where we need to move one step forward keeping second step’s calculations in our mind. Then we can compare our present abilities & efficiency with the skills and capabilities needed to achieve our leadership goal. We can figure out a graph where we can easily understand, in which area we need to improve and factors which are to be changed in such a way that we can see a clear picture and the distance we have to cover to achieve our goal. A true leader! – is a simple person has got the ability to remove all hurdles and barrier in achieving the set goal.

This is my perception to see leadership and the way it developed, that is through self experience & learning. Different people have different perception so it would be great if you all can add your valuable comments about your own view so that I can learn more and get more knowledge regarding the word called “leadership & leaders” the symbol of power, strength and freedom. Be a leader of your own life.
