Wake up Techsss

Business Owner and a Tech Guy

Boom in the IT industry in india. The complete decade was full of IT opportunities. Lots of hiring and firing in the Industry. Lots of New Millionaire in the entire world. Y2K bug. and Then Its Solution. Windows Millenium, & the turn around in Microsoft's business after the launch of Windows XP. India became the IT hub in the world. B'lore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and then Gurgaon. Year 1996, not more than a few people knew gurgaon. Now its the most expensive place in the entire NCR to live.

India became the First preference of all MNCs, specially IT firms, to Invest.

Reason?? Low cost, low investment and high return. Best techs and most Intelligent people to work for them. To get the assurance in customer Satisfaction and a Hundred Percent resolution for any kind of technical problem with the PC. Isn't that sound Great? ? ? Ofcourse it does.

But did we ever think what are we , as a Tech/Engg , suppose to get for the work we do?

Ever thought why they are able to provide a Toll Free Number to call, though the call will land overseas? Do we have an Idea about what they pay to a "local Technician" to fix a computer in the United States? And what are we offered to fix 15 issues in a day?

Let me give you a figure...... Have a close look at it.....

This salary chart has been divided into various levels of employment positions which are each defined as.
Entry Level: Someone who has 0-3 years experience, relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform their job and does not typically require the exercising of independent judgment. Like a Fresher in the Industry.
Mid Level: Someone who has 2-5 years experience, relies on judgment and limited experience perform their job. May be a Senior Tech or a Tech Team Leader.
Senior Level: Someone who has at least 4 years experience, relies on judgment and experience perform their job. They may also be in charge of others. Like a Manager or Senior Manager.

In The States,
An Entry Level Technician is hired with a CTC of $38,000. That is equivalent to 17,47,890 INR in India. A Mid Level Technician is offered a CTC of $47,000. That is equivalent to 21,61,860 INR. and A Senior Level Technician( may be a Manager) is getting a CTC of $51,000. That is 23,45,850 INR in our currency.

wait wait... I know what question came into your mind. That is why this guy is comparing the income in India with income in The USA, as every one knows that the lifestyle is much more expensive there in The States. Let me give you guys a clarification.

an Entry Level Tech in ndia is offered a CTC of 2,25,000 INR that is Equivalent to $4,880 "ONLY".
a Mid Level Tech(may be a Team Leader) is working in India with a CTC of not more than 4,50,000 INR which is less than 9,800 USD.
and A Senior Level Tech is Happily working 12-15 hours a day with a take home of 10,00,000 INR( I assume they Get that Much) that is Little less than 22,000 USD.

Did You see the difference??
a Senior Level Technician in India is as expensive as two Entry Level Techs in The States. You see the Best Technicians in the world are paid the Worst.
But We are still Happy, because we think we make more money than what our friends make in the entire year.

My goal of writing this Blog is not to offend some one, or discourage the capabilities that we Guys have, but to show you the clear picture and to put my feelings across all of you. I don't know how many so called "Successful" people in IT industry will read this blog, but who ever reads it, please give some idea about how we can increase our Income level and get paid for what we are worth of.............
