Windows 7 for Next Gen Computing
If you want "beauty with
brain", go for Miss Universe or Miss World, but if you want style with brain, go
for Microsoft. The company founded in April 4, 1975. Since then it’s a journey
that helps millions worldwide. With
their main products, MS Windows & MS Office suite, the company is the
market leader by far, but as they say, "Your potential. Our passion” so they keep developing new products to help the consumers to do better
computing. On October 22, 2009, less than 3years later of launching the much hyped
MS Windows Vista; the company is ready to launch its new OS (operating System)
MS Windows 7. Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft
Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on
personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, notebooks;
tablet PCs and media center PCs. It
has very unique features that will entirely change the modern computing
experience. New features, such as advances in touch and handwriting
recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core
processors, improved boot performance, Direct Access, and kernel improvements.
The
taskbar has seen the biggest visual changes, where the Quick Launch toolbar has
been replaced with pinning applications to the taskbar. Buttons for pinned
applications are integrated with the task buttons. These buttons also enable
the Jump Lists feature to allow easy access to common tasks. Windows 7 will
include Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 12.
THE
IMPACT OF WINDOWS 7
In a survey, IDC
Consultancy firm figured out that the forecasted
Windows 7 unit shipments worldwide by year compared to Windows XP, NT, and
Vista to grow from just over 40 million in 2009 to 272 million in 2013
In
the scheme of total IT spending worldwide, the spending on the 177 million
copies of Microsoft Windows 7 to be shipped by the end of 2010 will be small,
Barely 1% of total IT spending and less than 5% of total spending on software.
But Windows 7 means more than revenue to just Microsoft. It will also drive
revenue for hardware companies, other software companies, service firms, and
channel firms in every corner of the globe.
By the end of 2010, Windows 7-related employment will account for more
than 7 million jobs or 19% of all IT employment, in the global IT industry and
at user organizations. This is 1.2 million in hardware companies, nearly
280,000 in software companies, 1.5 million in services and channel firms, and
4.2 million in IT using organizations. The impact on Indian market will be much
higher as 95% of the Indian PC users use Windows OS
In An ICMR and
4Ps B&M survey Microsoft obtained 9th spot out of 1499 brands,
which shows their market strength and justify the phrase “style with brain”.
