San Francisco-based Boombotix has posted a Kickstarter page to raise funding for a new accessory for the sixth-generation iPod nano.

Dubbed “The Proof,” the accessory is a watch kit for the device, made from polyurethane, coated with a thick silicone wrapping. It aims to provide IP68 waterproof coverage down to three meters by plugging all ports and allowing access to the nano’s screen via an ultra thin polycarbonate lens, and using one of three adapters, the first of which blocks access to allow for use as a watch with no audio access, and the second of which offers Bluetooth audio streaming support. A third adapter will be supplied to allow for access to the headphone jack, although it will not offer waterproof protection. It’s give you a chance to send music from ipod to mac. Apple has unveiled a new iPod nano, which features an updated user interface, multi-touch, an integrated clip, new fitness functions and FM radio.No more grid to contend with, on the updated iPod nano you can simply swipe between apps. Clock off--Apple seems quite pleased with all the third-party watch casings available for the dinky MP3 players, so much so that it has updated the clock faces that it can display.

Apple may be about to bring the biggest changes yet to its iPod line-up, by discontinuing the still-loved iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle ranges. As iPod user, I believe you have saved many pictures on your iPod. Maybe, sometimes, your friends or family want to get those pictures, what would you do? Classic cut--The iPod Classic has had tremendous staying power. Its design is still similar to the design of the first range of iPods which is now a decade old.It is still a popular choice, however, due to its superb disk-space – up to 160GB. It is hard-disk based, though, and this is something that Apple is drifting away from in its mobile phone, laptop and iPod Touch ranges.

As for the iPod Shuffle – this is set to be discontinued, according to TUAW, and not replaced. Instead the iPod nano will be the entry level iPod but one that still has touch capabilities.

Given that Apple has officially announced that a new iPhone is coming 4 October, it will be interesting if it will also announce changes to the iPod line-up.

This time of the year has been traditionally put aside for a new iPod announcement, and it seems we may still have one yet.
