Agile Methodology

Senior Tech Lead HCLTechnologies
Agile methodology slowly becomes the defacto standard for the rapid software development projects. In the conventional software development model customer defines the requirements based on his business needs.

Project manager creates a software project plan based on the customer requirements for various phases like analysis, development, testing and deployment. Once the customer approves the project plan the project members start developing the project based on the plan and deliver it to the business.

Most of the time customer will look into the application at the time of testing or during pre production stages. The problem with this model is if the customer needs some changes or customization it would be difficult to implement it on time which leads to customer dissatisfication.

Agile methodology involves customer, stake holders, project managers and team members at each and every stage of the development of the project. The main principle of agile methodology is the customer satisfaction by continous delivery of working software at regular intervals. The measure of the progress of the project is determined by the working software rather than the phases of the project.

The main advantage of this model is that the late change in requirements can be implemented with out any difficulty.Daily meeting of team members, project manager and customer is one of the important needs of the agile. This meeting is called "Scrum Meeting".

Scrum meeting last long for only 5 to 10 mins every day and each participant has to inform "what he has done yesterday", "What he is going to do before the next scrum", "Any obstacles for his work".In this way everyone will be aware of what's going on in the project and if there is any obstacle like requirement clarification it would be sorted out immediately without any delay.

I hope you would have got some basic information about Agile methodology through this blog and you can now implement
it effectively in your projects.

Happy Agile !!!
