This feature is being written more to sensitise potential management graduates on the expectations which the industry has of them on joining. As a management graduate who passed out two decades back from IIM-Bangalore, the first few months on the job was essentially coming to grips with reality. For once I realized that the 2 years of MBA education taught precious little on managing people. The expectations from the 'MBA' is quite high. While most of the grads have decent enough analytical skills, when it comes to managing people, the skills acquired are woefully short. For some reason most of the B Schools fail to recognize the 'MAN' in 'management'. As one involved with the FranklinCovey GAT Management School, care has been taken while designing the curriculum to focus on man management, execution skills and most importantly honing ones skills and sensitivities with respect to appreciating and being aware of members ( with their strengths and shortcomings) in a team, and the skills required to manage and lead such diverse teams ( culturally and attitudinally) towards achieving the team ( organization) goals.
