Stuff better to know before hard drive recovery
Are you also one of the people that pay more and more attentions to hard drive problems as we depend so much on computer hard drive to store all kinds of important files like videos, audios, Word, Excel etc? If we delete or lost an audio accidentally, we will try everything to Restore Audio from Hard Drive. Fortunately, there are techniques and software that can help us recover deleted files from hard drive with ease. But personally I think that there are stuff we’d better know before we actually begin hard drive data recovery.
Hard drive recovery techniques
1. Don’t copy files to target hard drive;
2. Don’t install software to target hard drive;
3. If the system partition (normally disc 2) lost file, turn off the computer right away and never start it gain since the default virtual memory and temporary files are both in the system partition and they may cover the space that the lost file took.
4. The rest of hard drive partition should not be less than the space that the recycle bin has assigned for it. The default value is normally 10% of the partition capacity.
5. Don’t operate the target drive unless you are sure that the lost file has been found.
Spot protection
1. Protecting the spot is the key to recover the data
The date can not be recovered if the disc space is covered.
2. Don’t directly operate the file on the floppy disc.
A lot of people has over believed the safety of the floppy disc.
3. The data file should not be too big.
If the date file is too big, they could be different with different storage media.
Since the hard drive is relatively stable, they can store big files.
Big files normally mean files bigger than 100M, 30 M if it’s for CD-R or CD-W and 200K if it’s for 1.44M hard drive. Better to compress big files and restore them with multiple of formats.
Basic data protection trials
1. Use Vopt99, Defrag, Norton Speed and Diskeeper regularly to help your hard drive recovery, this can improve disc visit efficiency. Even though there is contingency, your data recovery probability can still be improved.
2. Hard drive is Mechatronics precision machinery, we should put it lightly and fix it in the main computer. Don’t move it if it’s on, only it’s off for one minute can we move it. Remember abnormal machine turn off can result in hard drive damage.
3. The noise is normally small when the hard drive operates, if your hard drive makes big noise when operating, it should be a sign of error and it’s better to copy important data immediately.
4. When using GHOST recovery partition, choose the right target partition otherwise the partition could be lost or the important files will be recovered. It’s recommended that label for the partition before recovering so that we can distinguish the target partition so that there won’t be loss due to wrong choice of target partition.
5. As you know, accidence normally occurs in the disc C. Therefore, make full use of the partition features and don’t put data files in disc C.
