Empowering Employees
Does your Organizational Culture empower your employees?
In today’s organizational environment, it is important for any company to have a suitable work environment for all employees. Most of the employees today get job satisfaction through participation in decision making as it makes them feel part of the organization. However there are a few important issues that are neglected at times which lead to labor turn over. These may include;
1- Grievance Management – It is very vital for the organization to have a procedure for solving the grievances of the employees. If the employees feel that the organization has no medium for handling their grievances they are bound to have cases of discontent.
2- Equality – Employees should be given equal opportunities regardless of sex, race or religion. Favoritism is one major thing that the organizational hierarchy should avoid. Employees should be treated equally at the work places. Let it be a cleaner she/he deserves respect as this makes her feel part of the organization.
3- Medium against exploitation – All employees deserve to be in a company where their efforts are not exploited or misused by the employers. This applies most especially to the ladies who at times come across cases of sexual harassment. It is thus important to have company ethics that avert such cases of exploitation.
4- Respect for the employee’s Culture – There have been cases when the organization does not respect the culture of the employee because he/she is being paid. The culture of the employee can be used to determine the work culture of the organization. This also involves the beliefs of an individual or the religion of as individual.
5- Freedom of participation – Employees should be given the freedom to participate in the decision making of the organization. The administration should thus allow them to make their suggestions and contribute to the well being of the organization.
